I decided to get a newer radar detector this last fall. There wasn't much wrong with the old one... except it was 12 years old.

I didn't use it much as my company truck for the last 4 years was a GPS equipped unit. Hated it. Tracked seat belt use, excessive idling, speeding. Even when passing you were only allowed a 10% increase over the posted speed limit.

Moved on and now I got to drive my own. Freedom.

Decided on the Escort Passport Max. I wanted a cleaner install. Tried the Escort Live Smart cord. Liked it but didn't like having to coil everything up all the time. No room in the garage for my truck.

Blendmount made a mount for it in mid December so no more suction mount on the wind shield. It's off the rear view mirror stem.

Purchased the direct wire Escort Live module because I hated plugging it into the cig lighter and have the cord run in the way of the radio.

Found out about a way to draw power for it off the rear view mirror. Invisicord. It showed up today.

Couple of pic.

Put the Escort Live Module on top of the rear view mirror. RD underneath.

These are my install.

Damn. Nice and clean. I've decided that I'm going the Live direction as well. I already have the blendmount but I like that invisicord better than the makeshift thing I had in my '07.

Thanks.

The Max uses GPS, so putting the Live Module on top seemed to interfere with it getting a GPS fix according to the owner of the other pictures. It also gets pretty warm.

There is a fairly wide ledge on top of our mirror. There's also 2 vents or microphones. Hard to tell. Well the module fits right in between.

The module comes with the holder that can be on top or bottom. It has the double sided tape on it as well.

Kurtis, if you do, try going direct to Escort. JB's wanted $169.

$94 US + $20 shipping. Then again your up there freezing your butt off. Might as well get it now...lol

It was pretty good. They even have instruction that past buyers submitted so you know which wire to pin into. I double checked with the multi meter. All good

I didn't even have to remove the mirror. Putting the Blendmount on was harder than this. No soldering. No fuss. Leave the live module in and take the RD in.

$21.75 US for the Invisicord. It's fused as well.

It also picks up the blue tooth from my phone that's tied into the 16 pin connection in the glove box.

What's also cool is how it alerts.

I like to blast the tunes every once in a while..... well a little more.

If I'm streaming off my phone to the radio, phones un-muted, the Escort Live and radar detector warnings (voice prompts) come on the radio through the speakers. Same as your text message alerts come over the speakers if you get a text or email.

It only works this way if the mute is off and your streaming from your phone. If your listening to the radio or HD it won't work that way. Also you have to have the Escort Live set-up so your phone is paired to the RD. The normal way won't as you don't link your phone to it.

Just keep in mind, the Escort Live deal is $40 a year, but you get a year free when you buy either the DW or coiled cord Live module. It's for iPhone and Android only
