I searched and could not find the exact answer to this specific question.

I'm going to be selling my original RA2 radio and was wondering if the 4 digit PIN that I have for the truck to make changes through AlphaOBD is the same as the radio theft code?

Or do I need to acquire a different code for whomever buys the radio to be able to unlock it?

TIA,

Donnie King

The theft code is linked to the unit. Same code will work in different vehicles.

It's different. The buyer can get the unlock code from here...

Misread the post. The pin for the truck is not the same as the anti theft code

I appreciate the help folks. I was getting the idea that the codes must be different, so that is why I asked.

It doesn't happen to be on any paperwork in the original owners manual does it?

If not...my dealer has been pretty helpful and I can probably get the code from them with little effort.

Thanks,

Don

No, the radio unlock code is not in the owners manual.

When I went to get mine, the dealer said I had to get the serial number off the radio and that the VIN was not useful. Eventually, I will take the bezel off again and get it. If they are full of it I don't know, just saying.

The first radio I replaced I got the code from the dealer. As stated by another, you will need the radio serial number and "a VIN". In my case it was my VIN and I think you could use your VIN. If the buyer does it with their dealer, they can use their VIN (I believe this is just for theft tracking purposes).
