i have a 2012 ram 1500 Big Horn edition. in the upper glove box I find a black cord with a mini rc plug. I tried plugging it into a ipod but got nothing. anyone know what this thing is for?

I've got a Sport, but I don't think that should make much difference.
look at the inner (left wall) of the upper glove box. You should have a USB jack there--not a cable unless someone yanked it into the glove box, or perhaps just left a junk cable in your way.
