Radio Upgrade to RES 130 Help

I have purchased a used 2012 2500 CT with the factory CD/Sirius radio and would like to upgrade to the RES 130 (part # P05091228AC) with uConnect. I know that I don't have the microphone and all that goes with using my phone via Bluetooth, and I do not have radio controls on my steering wheel. What all will I need to make the RES 130 work with my phone. The parts manager at my local dealership said it can't be done. Any ideas or information? Thanks!

What radio do you have now? I thought the 130 RES was the base radio.

Anyway, with the 130 RES to get uconnect it's a separate module that gets mounted to the side wall behind the glove box. The kit includes a microphone that is supposed to mount to the A-pillar. Once you instal it, you have to take it to the dealer and have them flash the sales code for the uconnect to work.

It's all plug-n-play as far as the installation goes. No splicing, but you do need the dealer flash.

When I bought my truck, I had the 130 RES without the uconnect module and did what I described above. I've since upgraded to the 430 RBZ touchscreen, but it's still the same install. I still have to sell the 130 RES on eBay LOL

Oh, and I've never had the steering wheel controls, so it isn't necessary. Also if you also buy the USB cable that plugs into the new uconnect module and goes to the glove box, you can plug in an iPod or USB stick and voice control song selection.

Thanks for your reply. The radio I have does not have the button with the phone symbol (uConnect?) Do you know the part number for the kit that you mentioned? I found a kit on this link- HANDS FREE KIT, Uconnect Phone, Bluetooth® wireless handsfree, iPod® Integration. Cellular Phone. Fits: CHRYSLER (2007-2013), DODGE (2007-2013), JEEP (2006-2013), . # 82213221, but I'm not certain if it will work. I placed a call to the seller and he was not certain either. Thanks!!!

Honestly, I don't know that you can add it if you don't have the radio with the buttons. The kit you linked to may work, but I have no experience with the radio you have.

If you had the 130 RES or the 430 RBX touchscreen, then this kit should work:

I'm not sure what kind of harness you have for the radio. I would think that a 130 or 430 radio should plug right in, but I'm not sure.

One other thing to consider if you replace the radio is that some radios 2012 and up are marked anti theft and you need the unlock code for them to work. 2009-2011 radios should work fine without a code.
