RAM has been fixing my radio for 3 months, is this normal?

Hello!

I bought a RAM, though I live in Norway.. Europe. So there's a few problems!

The radio unit on my truck crashed.. RAM tried to remote fix this from the United States by giving inputs and commands to the radio. Nothing worked, eventually they tried to do a hard-reset of the entire vehicle.

This worked, but the problem was that the database inside the radio module somehow got wiped. GPS, truck functions were lost. The radio unit reverted to an earlier version. With a blue background, saying SRT.

Anyway, the result was that the radio unit was disassembled from the vehicle and sent to a workshop that has a Dodge certification in Sweden. They tried to re-program the unit but failed.

The unit was eventually shipped to the US, where they discovered the memory modules had failed.

RAM has been giving updates that they are "Waiting for parts" for over 3 months.

I just checked a few hours ago, the response I got was that the radio was "waiting for parts".

They did inform me however, that when the parts do arrive. It will be quick to assemble and program the unit.

Has anyone had experience with these kind of... Issues?

It was not sent to a RAM dealership. The Dodge repair shop in Sweden sent it to what they call a MOPAR R&D plant. I'm not sure what that is.

I'd definitely expect some type of compensation for this. Unacceptable when you spend the amount of money on these vehicles like we do.

Have you reached out to them?

Yeah I have. Dodge Dealership informs that when they asked the Mopar R&D plant for a update they are still "Waiting for parts".

They've been waiting for parts for 3 months...

Dodge dealership informed that they should give up on repairing the radio and simply give me a new one. But they can't be installed out of box. The R&D plant have to special program the unit with European maps etc...

The R&D plant refused to answer the Dodge dealership on giving a new radio since they have to attempt repair first.... But yeah, waiting for parts...

FILE BBB complaint. You'll prolly get more from that than going through dealer.

Issue is that I live in Europe. RAM has no dealerships here, RAM has no warranties for vehicles exported to Europe.

Dodge are no longer official Dodge dealerships, since Dodge decided to withdraw officialy from Europe.

There's only a few dealerships with good ties and "special" deals etc, with Dodge in the US.

The official stance from Mopar/RAM is that I have no warranties or protection, since the vehicle was exported.

The local dealership has to give warranties because of Norwegian law on purchasing vehicles, and they're pressuring Dodge all they can. But Dodge is kinda "meh" since it's just private dealerships with good ties to US Dodge/Ram.

I am getting quite tempted to just buy a new radio unit from the US, and not care about having European GPS maps programmed into the unit.. And sending the bill to the R&D plant saying "You had 4 months".

I'd also need compensation from the dealership, since the vehicle was advertised with GPS.

Cant the local dealer just give you a radio and then fight FCA/Dodge themselves?

I told them, this is taking too long.. Give up on repairing that radio, give me a brand new one. They simply said "No." That's why lawyer has entered the game.

Also the problem of living in Europe, there are no local dealerships. There's only 1 official Dodge dealership in the entire country.

I would just get a CarPlay radio and let the lawyers handle reimbursement.
