So I'm tooling along going home for the night after work and as I come up to my exit a primered out 98-02 Camaro SS 6 spd is riding my ass on the exit ramp... I paid not attention to this and kept trucking.

Well after I exit again to change freeways he is still in my bumper so after I made the clover leaf I nailed it at around 35mph and got to around 70. I saw him jump on it behind me and to my surprise he wasn't pulling just staying with me basically.

So we both get on Hwy 287 and he is right beside me in his loud ass car in prolly 2nd or 3rd gear just humming! So I point ahead and figured I will take my ass whipping. We go at 60mph, and my truck downshifts into third gear but after he had already jumped on me. He got out a half a car and he slammed the next gear and that's when my heart dropped!!! I was pulling him and not only that but passed him by a half a car and hit my governor. He flew by and I was freaking STOKED!!! I do not give this truck enough credit but I was for sure thinking I was going to get killed on the highway. Much to my surprise he gave me a thumbs up and I exited off. I am assuming his car was bone stock other than a muffler swap or something similar. I didn't know these trucks were capable of running with LS1s?? Maybe my truck was just running good or his car is a pile of **** idk? I do know he didn't waste time shifting and the car sounded good.

TLDR; Stock truck pulled a half a car on a stock catfish SS Camaro 6spd from 60-105mph.

That is the dead spot for those cars for some reason. Down low they are fast but so is the truck. I used to race them in my Dakota and it seemed like 3rd gear in the F-bodies was not a power gear which is odd because just about everything I've owned accelerated real well in 3rd. Above 100 the aero on those makes them quick. Good kill.

My brother has a bone stock 2012 5.0 Mustang. His car is rated at 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the quarter in 13.0 seconds.

I've run a 13.28 in my truck already, and that was on the wrong tune, extra weight, and with a 1200 DA.

A 90-02 Camaro would be even slower. The best rating on any of those is around a 13.3, so my truck is actually faster.

Like most F-bodys most aint stock but should be in the mid to low 13s in stock form.. He should have pulled you up top. LS1s have crazy top end.

Maybe his wasn't well taken care of. Did it look like ****?

It looked primered and the from the sound of the car it wasn't miss firing, pretty smooth. It could be a high mileage LS1?? I just know that at 100mph I was still slowly pulling him and that was a shock to me. The car was stock looking except for the primer paint and loud exhaust.

I haven't taken my truck to the track to see roughly what it will run. At least that will give me an idea of how I should stack up against an LS1 Camaro, but knowing those cars, I shouldn't have pulled it on the big end. If it was down low it wouldn't surprise me pulling one.

These pull like crazy in the upper RPM's, but there no LS1s, or light a areo like a f-body.. haha..

You sure it wasn't a LT1 F-body? Those are a little slower up top.

Trust me if it was an LT1 and it was stock I wouldn't even bother posting it. Those are slow. It was a 98-02 style

Don't even think about pulling up to a 2015 Z28 and doing that chit, you would regret it. I test drove one and man that thing hauls the mail.

Clapped out? Lol!! The difference between a Z/28 and an SS "performance wise" is the intake system IIRC. Hell it might have been a Z/28 with the SS wing and emblems for all I know...

Ricer fly bys?? Are you 13?

I have had a 10sec all motor DAKOTA and building another one for the street. I know my limits with this tank of a truck. Lol

If you think that's fast you should try taking a ride in a C6 Z06. They can run in the 10s bone stock.

LOL, I tried but I couldn't fit. I'm 6'3" and have a back back and knees, had to have the salesman help me get out, lol. There is no room in those vettes anymore, and man they are so close to the ground it is something else. IMO those vettes are the baddest production cars that are semi affordable, if I could just fit. I never had any real interest, I only own trucks anymore, I was just playing one day at the dealership and they humor me because I bought my last 5 trucks there combo Chevy / Dodge dealer..

.. I used to love to go fast.. but tickets got expensive.. my 07 r1 pulled 101 in first gear.. fastest I ever had it was 186.. and at 7500 feet that was about max for it. The cars now a days and even the trucks have crazy hp over 10 years ago..From a roll I wager a 5.7 hemi would keep well with the exception of 5-8 popular average cars-" new 5.0 mustangs" camaro"s and such

I know from recent history that my 5.7 rcsb would see nothing but fading tail lights if I hauled out the SRT8 or the 500 and gave the keys to the wife. Bye Bye lil truck.

LT1s aren't slow. There slower, but not slow.

I would agree by today's standards it might be, when we have V6 sedans running 13s.

Guess it was just a run down LS1..lol
Sorry to knock your win, I own a RAM and have driven very many F-bodys. There no dogs even in stock form..lol

I think mean SS or ZL1.
I doubt you test drove a $70,000 Camaro. It's pretty much a heavier Vette Z06

Performance wise
It was really just a lid (intake) and dual exhaust. Although the early F-bodys has single outlet exhaust. And taller gears.

Yeah I don't necessarily disagree with the Camaro being "run down" or even a high mileage. I'm not worried about my ram being superior in speed. I knew going into this that the Camaro would prolly walk off on me, but didn't.

I can agree to an extent that the LT1s are not slow when they have bolt ons or a H/C/I package, but in stock form they are not impressive even 10 years ago. I beat a stock one with my old RCSB Dakota 318 with a stock trains and headers and TB.

The LID was what I was referring too. Thanks for the correction. I have also driven a few F Bodies and especially the ones I drove were cammed and bolt on cats and they are a blast to drive.
