hey guys! Looking to possibly raptor line my 2012 ram. Truck is currently black so will just be sticking that colour. I’m trying to convince the wife. She doesn’t like the textured look but it’s not her truck so that’s not a big deal. Her biggest concern is re sale value. I’m also not overly concerned with that either. The truck is already scratched and has a few small dings. So I’m here to ask what you guys think? And would love to see for 4th gens that are done already! Here’s a pic of my truck currently!

@Craw did his truck in LineX and it looks amazing. If you have questions, he’s your guy.

It may look good, if applied right. I have yet to see one that is actually an even sheen.

As for resale. Yeah, that is out the window. You won't get much for it at a dealer and you are REALLY narrowing your market with selling it out right.

A bad paint job can be always fixed. A lined truck is a headache.

You have to get it done right, with UV, it will and has stained - fade - so.. don't expect it to look new a few years down the road. I am sure you've had bedliners before. Recall the condition on them..

I've done a ton of bed liners with and without that kit.

That kit is nice. Not the best out there for the 2 part. But the texture of Raptor is probably the best. Looks more like Linex than any other liner.

Here is a close up of the kit.

And just be advised that, bedliner isn't just sprayed on and it's all done, one color, one sheen and looks good. You still ABSOLUTELY need to know what you're doing. You get one spot too thick and the others thinner, you now have a spot that looks horrible.. will stick out more than a ding in a door..

Buddy of mine did it to his Ford Super Duty in black, now he regrets it. It’s not even for sure and a year later it’s lost it’s sheen and now just looks dingy and dirty, just like a well used truck bed.

AH! Found the pictures. It's DEFENDER PRO! That is the best one I liked. It laid down perfect!!

Though this was probably my 20th time laying down bedliner, finally got it right ! :)

Thanks for all the replies! It’s defiantly a big help! I’ve heard of guys using tire shine to brighten it back up which would definitely help. I’ve painted a couple vehicles before. 1950 mercury m-47 and my 04 neon r/t. Both flat black though...I’m familiar with painting techniques so laying the product on shouldn’t be to much of an issue. I have an 89 f150 I’ve been somewhat working on, patches some rust replaced the box from junk yard, yada yada. Thinking I might use it as the guinea pig but in white

Man... Think of the headache to use a gallon of "back to black" vs. applying wax lol

Are you talking about doin entire truck or just bed? If entire truck I don't think 2 gal will be enough for you. I sprayed my entire truck few years back with 2 gal of black scorpion liner and 4gal of red. Still glossy everytime I clean it. Only issue is I do have some rust coming thru but it was almost 15 years old when I sprayed it so truck was already rusting. Fixed it best I could with what I could get my hands on.. this was back when I was in college. Other than that it is holding up well20180216_154728.jpg

Price: 4k due to paint involved, otherwise would of been around 3k.

Have to ask for Line-X Xtra not Ultra as Ultra would cost 2-3 times more.

Nice! Yeah raptor liners site says 12-16 litres to do a full size truck watched a few YouTube vids and a guy did a whole DJ cruiser with 4 litres so I figured I could do it in 8 but that’s why my 89 will likely be the test subject

Raptor is OK at best. Ive done boats and trailers with it. Issues are it doesnt get as hard as the real stuff. Raptor is very easy to spray and anyone can do it IMO.
The real stuff, not so much. My best friend now owns a liner setup. Im a auto painter by trade and when I did my truck it was tough! Lots of PSI and you have to stand way back and move FAST!

Just sayin I don't believe 8 will be enough. My truck was a single cab and I sprayed 22.7 liters and that doesn't include the bed of the truck

I don’t have any experience with raptor liner but when I redid my 82 Chevy k10 I used monstaliner. I was very pleased with how it turned out and held up. I used turtle wax ice to shine it up. I bought three gallons and used about two and a half. First post but if I can figure out how to add pics I will.
