I do believe that they would have no choice but to honor the warranty even if it showed 90% idle time. Nowhere in the warranty statement is there any information about not letting it idle. They would not have a leg to stand on.

Cannot be accurate or truly only accumulates in park (probably depends on software revision). My 2013 shows 18 idle hours, 4991 driving for 5009 total hours with 185,099 miles. That would be 0.36% idle and an average 36.95 MPH.

Well, after three 5.7s I've found that idling and start/stopping these engines really hurts fuel mileage. Even in wintertime I only idle from a start no more than a minute and progress slowly down the road until I see 100 F. oil temp. Fortunately with the 3.21 axle ratio engine RPM stays under 1200-1300 at my local speed limits.

I also do a lot of driving and most of this trucks life has been spent with the wheels rotating, either country roads or four lane. It does see some city driving once or twice a week, but even then I time traffic lights to keep moving. (If you stop on West Ridge Road in Rochester you better have some body armor on!)

Dusty

Is your driving almost 100% highway

Looks like you must spend a whole bunch of time on open highways but not necessarily freeway type roads with high speed limits. When looking at the total mileage to driving time seems like a lot of hours for the mileage yet the idle time is very low. I thought mine was low at 88 hours.
My driving takes me almost exclusively over the highway. We use the truck for two long distance round trip excursions a year. I rarely use the truck around town as I can commandeer the admirals hybrid for local stuff. And when I need a truck to be used like a truck I have a one ton with flatbed.
Just checked the RAM.

Y'all should get a kick out of mine. This was a fleet vehicle, I bought at 106K in late 2019 for $13K (wish I'd bought a few more lol).
And yes, had lifter failure.

You'd be correct. My weekly driving takes me on the interstate bypasses four times a week where on most sections it's 65 MPH. But the actual miles driven is fairly low, about 45-55 miles per week at those speeds. It varies, of course. Some weeks it's more.

I probably get more in-town driving.
