Just thought about it... why not swap 2500 axles and go from there... hmmm maybe once this truck isn't a daily driver anymore

Ram 2500 front axles have a two piece shaft on the actuator side. Major weak point. I’m currently installing 2007 Trussed super duty axles in my ram 1500 now.

How much high speed driving do you do,if you like to cruise at 70+mph/110+kmh's ,4.56's are gonna make you learn where all the gas stations are,lol

The 8-speed and 5-6 speed have the same overdrive gears. This gear chart should be used when selecting tire size. It also depends on what size tire he is running, and if he lives on a flat or arrea that has a lot of hills.
3:92 is reccomended for 35’s.

In the chart, green is fuel economy, and red is for towing/power.

You don’t think 4.56’s would be too much with the 8speed? It’s pretty flat ground where I am.. biggest hills around me are overpasses lol

@2010 Infantry Vet beat me too it but the final overdrive in the 8 speed is the same as the 5/6 speed so once cruising around, I don’t think it would be too much...........if you’re going bigger than 35’s (like 37’s!). If your staying with 35’s the 3.92’s are the way to go IMO.

If you're going with 37's or bigger I highly recommend 4.56 gears. I've ran mine now logging 25k miles. I went from 3.92 on 35's to 4.56's on 35's then upgraded to 37's.

Overdrive gears must be a different ratio for the 66RFE/68RFE compared to what they put in the 1500's. 4.56's with stock tires have been working out great for me so far. Right at 2k rpm at 70mph.

Ya, the final overdrive for the HD’s with the 68/66 is 0.62 IIRC

8HP is 0.67

If the majority or a lot of your driving is typical Canuck speeds of 110+ clic's,the 3.92's are probably going to suit you fine.
Where abouts are you, there's a few of us Canucks on here

So, I just found a set of 2013 diffs with 3.92’s for $1000. Only it’s an 8hr drive lol

When I bought my diffs it was an 14 hour round trip to go get them, they were $900 for the pair, but that was 4 years ago,so you're not alone, lol. There's a good chance you might be able to sell your 3.21's for that much or more if your patient, and all you'll be out is a Saturday or Sunday day of work, and the trip to go get them

Yea, that’s true. I could do the drive in a day, just pay for fuel.

So these diffs for $1000 were in an accident. The front diff stub axel was pulled out with the cv axel. Do you guys think the diff would be okay? And could I just use my current one to replace? Or buy a new stub axel?

Currently diving into the SAS on my '14. Interested to see more about what you did. Currently trying to figure out steering. SAS on these trucks is not easy.

Ram 2500 front axles have a two piece shaft on the actuator side. Major weak point. I’m currently installing 2007 Trussed super duty axles in my ram 1500 now.
