No problem with abs, simple addition, but I don't even really know what Traction Control is but I don't know how that would be effected by a solid axle. Something to do with the engine and power to wheels, I don't really know what it accomplishes and/or benefits. I would however not drive a vehicle w/o anti-lock brakes, saved my life at least once. Kept my vehicle going straight in a head on, if I had regular brakes I would have skidded sideways into a 90mph head on = goner.

Just thought about it... why not swap 2500 axles and go from there... hmmm maybe once this truck isn't a daily driver anymore

If you can getum cheap. I know if you find old military axles locally, those are also great options and bullet proof.

so pretty much then keep it stock lol.

Yeah you gotta do both or none, If you only did the rear and then someone put it in 4wd it would break something more than likely in short order.

Used front diff would be the best way to go and then have rear done with new parts or find a used rear diff as well.

I plan on swapping mine next year at some point as I have 3:21s and wont to step up to 3:92s.
But If I found some 3:55s cheap I would do that option as well as with the 8sp they would still work well.

I'll have 3.55's available by the end of august. I need to make sure they didn't change the mounting again in the front but if you want them they're yours.

edit: nvrmnd it looks different from mine

What axles are in my 13 Ram 1500? Sorry I was completely clueless on this topic. Soooo if I wanted to do 3.90’s I could just buy the gears and carrier? Honestly REALLY don’t wanna do a complete axle swap. Was planning on gear upgrade but had no idea about stuff being welded. Just trying to figure out my different options??

Axle swap would be easier then a regear.

My 4.10s have been so much fun, I feel a little sorry for the guys that have to either live with the too tall gears, or have to go thru what they do, to get 3.92s, or 4.10s.

Why did they have to make it so damn difficult?

Because trucks aren’t just being used for work anymore, everyone buys them now and uses them for DDs and wants a nice cushy ride, so they had to switch to IFS.

The solid front axle was the entire reason I bought my 1st Ram & also why I bought a 2500 in ‘14.

Do think he just meant why weld the ring gear to the carrier.

Hey, I have a 2015 ram 1500, 8speed, 4” lift, 35’s and 3.21’s.
I’m looking at getting a 2010 front diff and putting 4.10’s front and rear.
What’re your guys thoughts/opinions?
Thanks

If you’re sticking with 35’s do yourself a favor and just slap the factory 3.92’s in there. 4.10’s are not much of an improvement over 3.92’s and FWIW, the ZF diff is a stronger setup than the old one.

having to swap the other parts to make the 2010 diff work is not worth it for 4.10’s. I have 3.92’s and 35’s and she turns the 35’s just fine.

Get all the brackets and drivers side motor mount ,plus the corresponding driveshaft to swap back to the earlier 8.25 AAM front diff.As stated above it'd be easier to stick a 3.92 geared ZF front diff in,it's maybe a 2 hour swap on a driveway, using a floorjack by yourself.

There’s a guy here with the diff, driveshaft and brackets selling it for $150, then it’d just be the swap.
But the reason I thought 4.10’s is because then it would be around 3.87’s with the 35’s so almost like a stock wheel and 3.92s.

@6.7CumminsDrvr , do you tow at all? How is it? And what’re you pulling?

I thought about getting stock diffs with 3.92s, but they sell for around the same if not more than a whole gear swap. So figured might as well get 4.10’s

Selling your original diffs will offset your costs, and put a fair bit towards buying a complete front and rear set of 3.92 diffs, which you can swap on a driveway using a floorjack, while you'll probably have to pay a differential shop a good chunk of money to swap in 4.56's into your rear diff and into the older weaker 8.25 AAM front diff.

Yea, that’s a good point.
I’m not too worried about a “weaker” diff.. I hardly use 4x4 and I’m not really taking it off-road. I have an 04 for that haha

i don’t tow a whole bunch anymore, my little 5x10 single axle might be 3k lbs maxed out. I have towed an enclosed, dual axle, 7x16 fully loaded and it towed it very well (no distribution hitch either, rear lift coils handle weight exceptionally well). With 35’s and 3.92’s my truck still has a higher mechanical advantage than a stock truck with 3.55’s.......!!

It’s no Challenger or anything but believe me when I tell you, with 35’s, 3.92’s, and the 8 speed this things rips for what it is, it’s way faster and pulls stronger than you’d believe.

now if you’re getting all the parts needed for the swap for $150 then that is something to consider (that’s a smok’n deal)..... better gearing is always a good thing in my book (if it’s worth it). If you’re willing to go that route and have to re-gear the rear I’d really think about 4.56’s...........those would kick ***!

You don’t think 4.56’s would be too much with the 8speed? It’s pretty flat ground where I am.. biggest hills around me are overpasses lol

How much high speed driving do you do,if you like to cruise at 70+mph/110+kmh's ,4.56's are gonna make you learn where all the gas stations are,lol
