Just wondering if anyone domestically has been able to order an eight speed Hemi yet? And what is the estimated release date? Thanks!

I'm tempted to just go with the 6-speed, but from what I've researched about the 6-speed (if you can really call it that), I'm not a big fan of it. It'd be nice to have a proper transmission built for the Hemi. And for those that knock the dial shifter, your center console shifter isn't any more truck-like than a dial shifter... steering column shifters are more truck-like than any of them.

I think that'd be a mistake... They're putting this 8 speed on EVERYTHING that it can fit on. IMO, you'll be buying a soon to be obsolete item.
Also, I can't build a truck with an 8 speed unless it's a V6 so not sure where you're doing that.
The Ram Trucks Canada website... it's been showing the 8 speed option for a couple weeks now.

I want to say its only available for the pentastar right now and not in the hemi yet
The consol shifter is taking some getting used to for me, kinda blocks access to the buttons on the bottom. Its a nice resting place for my hand when cruising though! Aside from my 65 Hot Rod, all my automatic trans trucks have been column shift (even some old manuals).
I had thought the column shift was a direct linkage to the transmission, after messing with mine I am doubting it so that added sense of security is no longer there.
My question for both the 6 and 8 speed is how well can they shift into gear when parked on a incline or decline and a load is put against the pawl in the transmission. Living in Alaska we do not use the e brake in the winter time due to them getting frozen and stuck engaged.
I live in Louisiana and will never have the risk of the park break freezing up but i have been wondering about the incline deal. When i asked a dealer about this all he said is the brakes stay engaged and hold it. I wonder if the brakes hold even if you turn the truck off.
I talked to a local dealer yesterday he told me they can order them if I wanted to place one, 8-12 week wait time
