Rear Diff blew up.

Last week the rear diff blew up on the truck and im thinking ill just replace the whole rear end and go with a 3.92 instead of 3.55 is this just an easy pull out put another back in or is there more id have to do?

I have a commuter car so if im using my truck, its for truck things, im not to concerned about loss of MPG if it means i can tow a little better.

I also like to toy around off road in the truck and was going to put 35s on it once the tires need to be replaced.

It should be just a remove and install but if it is a four wheel drive you would have to stay with the same gear or change the gear in the front differential to match.

You need to match the front. Look for a sport with 4.10s at a junk yard and get both diffs.

He has a 2007....that ain't gonna happen lol. Plus he hasn't bothered to respond to whether it's 2wd or 4wd.

Was there any indication / symptoms before the rear differential failed ? The reason I ask is I think that mine may be going bad .
