I've been wanting to get either a locker or limited slip for rear end due to snowy winters. I have 4x4, but I almost always have to engage 4WD in the snow even to get groceries. Any recommendations on where to start? Was also thinking of changing my gear ratio to 4.10's (towing) but wasn't sure if a tuner was needed for the new ratio to compute the mph. Any direction is greatly appreciated!

Limited slip is far better for on road and light duty off road use....its "always on".

Lockers have their place in rough off road use...but you have to turn them on and off, when its off you have a plain open diff, and most of the factory versions disengage above 5-10 mph.

No tune needed for either , unless you go with a factory E locker.... then maybe, not exactly sure how all that works.... but it won't affect the speedo.
