Howdy all. I was wondering if anyone has deleted their rear seat on a Quad cab. I 99% of the time don't have anyone in the back seat. I would love to use the room to store some tools etc.

So moving that up to 100% no one in the back? :)

If you are looking to carry things as in storage, shelving, etc. my two cents is out a frame in like they have in police cars. You don't want things flying forward if you are in an accident. Even the seat won't be much help for a screwdriver, for example.

I have another vehicle I can use if there is a third person. Most of the time I am by myself. I had a 2 door Bronco I was using, but I was always needing to take my wife's truck. If she was at work I have to wait, or move tools over to it. It got old really quick so I sold the Bronco and got this to replace it.
I was thinking of something like Molle Panels along the back with different size pouches to hold small things, and a sort of pack out setup for the bigger stuff. I use the bed more than the rear seat. So taken up bed space is really not an option.

On my older quad cab I had shelving that would fold out when the seats were flipped up and out of the way, worked great to store things, and kept the seats. I have that same setup in my crew cab now. Not sure if it's an option or if all trucks have it from the factory, but that might be a good tradeoff. It kept the whole area flat, works great.

As far as a 100% delete, I don't have any help there.

I sold my rear seat, put in two different sizes of storage boxes, with room left over in the drivers side floorboard to put daily items in. I don't regret it in the least, it's just my dog and me, if two people want to ride, dog goes in the lap and we sit three across. I don't worry about sharp things stabbing me in the back, by not putting sharp things in the former back seat area.

On my quad cab, my seats are almost always folded up and the floor is flat with fold over bit out.
You would gain a bit if you pulled the seats out , but the floor area would not change much.
If you are thinking tool racks/ boxes then I could see it.
When I still had the dog, she had her seat, and anyone else, she thought they could ride in the back, why I had to buy a bigger truck .
Wife refused to ride in the back.

I had a 2011 Quad 1500. We have a slide in pop up camper. Went to Alaska and wanted a real spare so took the rear seats out used OSB board to make a hinged floor allowing access to bottom storage, strapped the spare tire to the back, (very secure) and had room for coolers and luggage. When camping season was over reinstalled the seats. Worked great. (The spare tire carrier would not work with real rims, only the donut rim) Modified the spare tire carrier on my 2019 classic to allow a real rim.

I had one of those styles as a loaner, when my Explorer was in the body shop. I didn't understand why there was still a tranny hump in the back seat area. I like the lay flat floors. My wife didn't like the idea of yanking the seats out, so for now I leave them folded up and place tool bags on the floor.
