Unfortunately the rear window defrost is not an option on the Express or the Tradesman. It is only available in the higher trim levels. If you purchased a factory rear window with defrost you would need to add the wiring and correct codes in order for it to work. If you want the rear window defrost I would reccomend buying an aftermarket kit. All of the Ram trucks show the rear window defrost button but in most cases it's only for a heated mirrors unless the truck had the rear window defrost option.

if you don't have the lines across the windows, you don't have the rear window defrost. It is an option that would have to be ordered but I don't think it's available on all trim levels.
Seeing out the back window for driving is useless in a pickup truck. You can see everything you need to if you know how to use your sideview mirrors.

I do have the heat strips in the rear window, but they do not hear up with the side mirrors. Am I missing something or does it just not work?

If your rear window looks like the picture below, it should heat up during cooler temperatures by pressing the rear window defrost button on the dash. Check 30A fuse #36.

It looks like that but has never defrosted. I'm assuming it's the same button that activates heatef mirrors. I'll check the fuse. Thanks for the info!!

I have the 8.4 in my tradesman that does not have heated rear window but it has a rear window defrost option on the radio? Maybe that that if you have the 8.4?

The button for the heated mirrors also activates the rear window.

The physical button on the center stack is the same as the virtual button on the radio. Either location will toggle the mirrors and back window defroster on/off.

Crash is correct, but also, neither will turn on during remote start if the temperature is not cold enough. Also, both mirror and rear window heat turn off after a certain period of time.

I have that button, but it does not say Rear on it, just the symbol... Guess they put the damn windshield in with the capability in and didn't connect it.

Does that window have the center slider? I was under the impression that the sliding rear window was not available with defrost and vice versa, the defrost was a single pane rear window.

My truck has the power sliding centre AND defrost. Don't know about manual options.

Ok I looked up my VIN. My truck IS equipped with the rear defrost, it just has never worked. I'll get it checked out. Thank you to everyone that gave advice!

On my truck, the interface between the wiring and the back window defrost element is on the lower corner of the passenger side.

I'll post a picture the next time I'm at my PC.

Any update on the fuse status?

I'm guessing but don't all of the defrosting options only work below 40 ?
I use the mirror defrost frequently in the rain, in the 60-80 degree F range, as on the highway when the mirrors aren't getting more rain on them, they don't self clear well. The defrost seems to help them clear up a little.

Check to see if the defrost elements are connected to the wiring harness. This is what the connection looks like on my '21 Warlock;

AFAIK, It's the plastic housing on the far left. I'm not sure about Ram trucks but others I've seen look like a dome fastener or a snap fastener on your jeans.
