I had a $4000. repair of the Def, Nox Plus, Certified repair company, not dealership that used Dodge parts. They sent a letter saying we were denied reimbursement. This denial was after 6 plus emails of "I can't open the info, then I want more info....... A certified Dodge repair person was not good enough. I want to file a formal complaint and not sure where to go. Any suggestions?

Why did you not use the dealer? I'm not sure you have a valid complaint since you did not go to a dealer. Rarely do manufacturers reimburse 3rd party shops for repairs unless they pre-approved this (in writing)

The truck was repaired and there was no recall extended for the truck. The dealer is 40 minutes away, so this shop is very reputable, certified by Dodge and uses OE parts.

Does anyone in the forum recommend resolving this, especially since the notice did not say anything about the use of a dealership? Just because the shop I used does not sell trucks, but qualifies for everything else. Need complaint advice.

Try Googling for consumer protection agencies in your area. Local states attorney office. Better Business Bureau. A local attorney that handles civil matters. RAM website. Just to name a few.

Thank you, I will try those. I had filed a complaint 3 or 4 years ago which got action, don't remember who it was.

Are you talking about the extended warranty as part of the Cummins emissions recall VB6 or 67A?

Gotcha, this was something you had done a while ago and now that they extended the warranty you are trying to get back paid. I thought you just had this done and it was still under warranty.

I hate to say but you are in a uphill battle but I wish you luck. Ram doesn't usually pay out in these situations unless it was pre-approved to use an outside shop. (even if the mechanic has taken some training to be "certified").

You options are probably going to come down to getting a lawyer involved if you want to fight it.

I have someone in the EPA Civil office contacting them and assisting me. I had the truck repaired in March, then recently received the notice for the extended recall. They played so many games in the email. "I could not open your document" and More, so I new they were not honoring the notice after so many emails. He will not get another RAM after this. All I can do is file complaints and someone will hopefully help. RAM is not responding to my emails so I am done. The company is in MI, so taking them to small claims is a no. They have a 1 star no doubt from bad service.

They might be a leg to stand on. If the vehicle received the recall flash update and any of the component(s) listed in the extended warranty died before the extended warranty letter was issued. The letter I received states that if one experienced this condition and paid for a repair, they may be eligible for reimbursement.

IIRC with the drag link recall, FCA was reimbursing folks that had it replaced and in some cases with an aftermarket part. It was very hit or miss. It seemed to depend on which case manager was assigned to the case.

Best of luck to the OP.

On the drag link they reimbursed folks initially because they (Ram) did not have a "solution" in place yet. Once that happened they stopped reimbursing people. So not quite an apples to apples comparison to this situation.

I think they get you with the "may" reimburse statement in the letter. This is the second or 3rd I have seen denied for this but none were done by a dealer.

Yea, I cann the issue with t not being repaired by a dealer but the letter does not say that is a requirement.

There is definitely a different dynamic at play here. The EPA is Big Mad at Cummins. The EPA just kicked Cummins in their corporate nether regions with a steel toe boot to the tune of $1.642 billion. The largest fine the EPA has ever levied. The EPA is also threatening to kick them again if they don't fix 85% of the affected vehicles within 3 years. Soooo, perhaps the OP can get someone at the EPA to intervene. Hopefully Cummins will not want to tick off their regulator.

Information should be on its way to Ram dealers, and their software system should be updated to reflect extended warranty programs. In the event your dealer is not informed, check the Mopar website which shows eligibility details. Ram customers will also be receiving a letter soon. Once you complete the reflash, your vehicle is automatically eligible for a special extended warranty program from Cummins. We encourage you to visit cumminsrecall.com to learn more. The information provided is directly from Cummins and has helpful FAQs and links to useful resources. FCA Customer Care is also available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. They can be reached at: 1-866-726-4636 or 1-866-RAM-INFO. Let us know if you need any further help.

The problem lies with the truck not being covered by dealership due to the ongoing issue for trucks out of warranty. We had it repaired in March 2024, Then you came out with the extended warranty you are not honoring.
