Interesting you should ask this. I'm in the process of selling my current truck in preparation for a truck I've ordered though
@AnthonyRI @ Mark Dodge. I went on KBB to get a potential value for my truck (I know I know, nobody believes them anymore, but I just wanted a range to consider realistic). They had an option to get a cash price now on the truck, so I took that. A local dealer, Jim Butler Chevrolet was the only offering dealer and they made an offer that I thought was reasonable. So I make an appointment that evening to stop by and confirm it.
They pushed me really hard on whether I wanted to sell my truck outright or trade in for a sweet deal on a Chevy 2500 (I think they are ugly as sin right now) but I insisted I wanted to sell outright just like the ad on KBB.com said. After about 10 minutes with my keys the sales guy comes back and says that they can't buy my truck-
because of this recall and the fact there is no "fix" yet. So I'm SOL. I've called every Ram dealer within 75 miles of me and they neither have a fix or are willing to buy my truck outright. They'll take it on trade for a 2025 or 2026 truck, but they won't buy it outright.
Why Ram can get away with issuing a recall with no potential fix is beyond me, but it's definitely affecting the secondary market. I don't know if the Chevy dealer was just using the KBB thing as a bait-and-switch tactic and they don't ever buy cars outright or their concerns were legit. I suspect they are using KBB strictly to get feet in the door and never intend to buy a car, only accept as trade in. They were more than happy to accept my truck as a trade in, just not buying it outright.
So, until Ram comes up with a solution, we're all just kind of stuck out here dangling.
