I heard about it on a local news radio station yesterday on the way home from work. I wonder if it’s only going to be certain trucks or all of them.

I wonder if has anything to do with a previous recall, "U74". That was a simple fix by using a rubber "block" on the latch mechanism ?

My son has a 2021 2500 that has a dent in the tailgate cause it popped open while towing a trailer and hit the jack post. Body shop wants $800 to fix it. Wonder if the recall will cover this?

I will ad this to the list . I had a Gen4 truck since new, and I had 14 recalls performed over the 8 years I owned it. Probably cost me $200 in diesel to drive back and forth to the dealer for all of them.

I have had problems with my tailgate. But not it opening on it's own, but not opening when it is supposed to.
Originally I could just come to a stop and hit the key fob button and it would open. Then it started not opening. I had it in three times for them to fix it.
After the third time they fixed it, I couldn't just come to a stop and hit the key fob. I now have to come to a stop AND put it in park.

I know with my 12 that if I slam the tailgate shut it won't latch properly and I can pull it open with just a tug. If I gently close it it will stay latched. I never thought too much about it because I'm aware of it now

My tailgate recall was done almost 2 years ago. Never did open on its own. They have been building tailgates maybe 100 years? Still have not perfected it.

LOL Mine is just the opposite. I have to close it "robustly" to make it latch.

Yeap, saw the recall notice on MSM, said that dealers will be notified and consumer should see something about it come January 2023. Have not (knock on wood) had issues but will wait and see.

Way back when, they recalled my 2018 2500 for the same issue...They replaced the latch assembly back then.

The tailgate on my 67 Chevy C10 never opened on its own, I could gently close it no problem. And I liked the rattle sound of the linkage.
But it didn't have Apple car play or blind spot cameras.

mine has given me an alert 4 or 5 times that it was not shut but when I went to open and reshut it it always seemed to be already shut tight.

Mine is the same way. If I shut it too lightly the truck computer doesn't seem to know the tailgate is shut and give me a warning. A more solid re-shut solves the issue.

I have read of some that have to almost slam the tailgate shut for the sensor to register it.

I was part of this Factory Recall. 2013 Laramie Longhorn 1500. My Tailgate flopped open on I-10 several times before the Dealer did the recall. Not a good fix with 'the plastic tab' solution. It failed within a year. Original Owner of my Truck so after a year I simply squirted some White Lithium Grease on the springs in the Summer. WD40 on the springs in the Winter. No more Tailgate flopping open at 80mph. I sometimes wish life was this simple... JP

I have to try a second and third time sometimes on my 21 1500. I check the camera once in a while to make sure it didn't open while I'm driving
