Heath, what products (oil, oil filter, fuel additives, etc) would you recommend for us Cummins guys?

Mine is an '06 5.9L with only 24k miles.

Thanks.

^ Yes, saw that in another post. I figured since he has a cummins and is very familiar with AMSOIL, he should have some good insight for us CTD guys.

Wow..an 06 with 24k! Any chance it's a dually? If so, you wanna sell it:)

As of 07, the new API spec for diesel oil was changed to CJ-4 to meet emission requirements. These are pretty much the only diesel oils you'll find on the shelf althought there are still some old CI-4+ oils out there, including AMSOIL. The newer CJ-4 is backward compatible so it will work in any diesel engine, but many people with the 06 (I should say 5.9L engines)and older like to run the older stuff. They like the higher zinc content for wear protection although the newer is supposed to be just as good if not better??
I'm still running the older, product code AME, 15W-40 in mine. I also run our EaO80 oil filter. It fits all the 5.9 and 6.7L engines. The newer oil comes in both a 5W-40 and a 15W-40.
All of these oils can run 3x the OEM change interval in the 06 and older(no DPF)...if you choose to.
They just came out with an OE diesel oil (15W-40). This is a tamed down package. It runs a little less and is only meant for OEM drain intervals. I've not sold any yet. It would work for those who still want some of the benefits but don't plan on going long intervals with it. Not sure the price is still worth it??
As for fuel, I like putting in additives all the time. Many don't do this. I use our diesel concentrate to keep things clean and lubricated. I also use a bit of cetane boost because fuels can vary quite a bit in cetane content from station to station. If you buy all your fuel at the same place and they know their cetane level is 50 or better, then you don't have to worry about it. It's also not that critical either. Cetane just lowers the cumbustion threshold and make it easier to burn. You get more efficient combustions and maybe some fuel ecomony??

Thanks for the info, Heath. And no, it's not a dually and I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want to sell it.

Can you PM me a price for the following please:
(12) qts AME 15w-40
(1) EA080 oil filter
shipped to 33610

Thanks much.

Heath, when you say you use the diesel concentrate above, you mean ADF or DCF?

My truck sits during the week because I have a company car, which is why it has low miles, would the ADF be beneficial for that reason also?

And if I start using it and/or Cetane Booster, would I need to continue to use them from this point forward, or is it safe to use them periodically?

Thanks again. I'm definitely going to order the case of oil and oil filter we PM'd about, but want to decide if I want to add Cetane booster and/or concentrate.

It would be the ADF. It also acts as a fuel stabilizer, so yes, if your tank lasts longer than a month it might be a bad idea. The ACB is the cetane boost, but that is optional. The other one is DFC. This is for use in the winter. It is 1/2 ADF and 1/2 cold flow improver. You'll have no use for this one but sometimes they get confused.

Of course I'd tell you the most benefit is continual use, but I have several people who use it periodically to keep the injectors clean. For you the better benefit might be the stabilzer. Diesel fuel starts to loose it's "pizzazz" after 30 days.

Alright, add (2) 16oz bottles of ADF to my order and PM me the revised quote and I will call you with payment details.

Thanks again, Heath.

Correct, ADF for all benefits. Sorry I wasn't clear. One bottle treats 80 gallon.
