this isnt just for 3rd strike, anyone else can chime in. just wanted to make the purchase through 3rd strike. if i go through with it.
but ive been looking into buying a tailgate light. i love the look to them and all. been looking at the Recon Line of Fire LED tailgate light.
Recon Line of Fire LED Tailgate Lightbar Recon Line of Fire LED Tailgate Lightbar, Recon 26411 Line of Fire, Recon 26412 Line of Fire [Recon 26411/26412 Line of Fire] - $59.95 : 3rd Strike Performance!!, Mopar, GM and Ford Performance Parts-Aftermark
No wireing needed except if you have the 4 prong addaptor for towing and such is all i need for this? also how well is the tape that holds it in place?

just wanted to see some reviews on this or others light bars. i Hear Recon makes some great stuff.

thanks.
Nick

I have the Recon White Lightning bar on my truck. Had it on for 3 years with no problems. The 3m tape it attaches with is still holding strong. :)

The light itself is, but the reverse has to be hardwired into the reverse lights of the truck.

LOL yeah, I don't blame you, I think that's pretty much the reason why I never got mine done.

But there's no worries about the tape, it holds super strong. I too was leary about it at first, but it has held for 3 years with no problems. It does come with screws though too, in case you would want to secure it to the truck that way.

The reason the reverse lights aren't in the 4 way plug is because they aren't in the plug on your truck. A trailer only has 3 lights - turn signals, flashers and brake. The other wire is a ground....hooking up the reverse is easy, just pop out a taillight, use what is called an open crimp connector, and tape it up, bam, you are done....and Recon has the best product on the market, their tape holds up better than any I have seen out there...

I had one with the reverse lights. It looks cool when you put it in reverse but I think the light output is minimal. If you really want the best of both worlds get the red only LED bar and then a $20 set of wal-mart fog lights and mount them under the truck to give you some real light for backing up.

oh, I'm gonna wake this thread up and ask, what length covers the whole width of the tailgate?

Thanks,
Zach

I managed to jam the reverse light wire into the reverse bulb socket. It was finicky at first but worked well

I never understood why they didn't put an adapter in there so you could plug it up without unhooking your trailer plug in

I happen to have a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter so I never had to unplug it
My dad got a t adapter that plugs in behind the hitch plug and adds an extra 4 pin so he has a 4 pin behind the bumper then the 4pin/7pin in the bumper/hitch

Side question here. I want to mount 2 lights in the back under the truck or on top, not sure where yet for reverse lights. Is it legal to just have them on everytime I am in reverse or do they have to be on a switch.
