I'm in need of some insight,

So I'm driving down the street and theres a detour because of repaving being done. I accidentally hit a pot hole and the CEL came on and went into limp mode right away. I pulled over really quik because i was only traveling about 30 mph and put it into park and turned it off. I waited a minuit before turning it on again, it started and drove fine but the CEL stayed on. I checked for loose conectors at the pcm and throttle body but everything seemed good. I tend to keep the engine bay somewhat clean and I haven't seen any wires that could be causing a short or something like that. Also, the ground conections are pretty clean.1598390656858-104088916.jpg

I was wondering if this has happed to anyone else? Is that a sign that the throttle body is going bad?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OEM throttle body?

You have a permanent DTC code that will need to be erased. Could be an anomaly since you had an extreme vibration. Check to make sure your red clip is engaged on the TB sensor.

Correct, stock TB. All conectors properly engaged.

I'll bite on that one, an anomaly due to extreem vibration, very possible.

But It just seems weird because I've driven on roads with lots of....lets just say, really bad. About a month ago I drove 280 miles to Reno, NV and decided to take a different route. I ended up running into two fairly deep pot holes on the highway at about 80 mph that I thought for sure somthing had broke. I'm lucky nothing did. Never take that route again. The vibration i experience then was bad compared to this last one.

Would you happen to know how to get rid of permanent DTC codes?

I read on another thread that a obd2 code readers can't erase permanent DTC 's.

Thanks for your help

Looks like the sensor is crooked in the intake tube.
Maybe reinsert it to make sure?
A cheap Harbor Freight code scanner might clear the CEL.

The IAT measures air temperature only. It probably wouldn't make a difference on the crookedness as air will pass through it no matter the position thus measuring air temp. I don't think that would affect the TB for it to go into limp mode.

CEL went away on its own after a trip to the grocery store.

Would anyone know what else could cause a bad throttle position?

I had a TPS go bad but it was a modified P&P throttle body. PCM would lose communication and flicker the service throttle sensor and eventually went limp with trans brake.

If it continues to occur, most likely a throttle body issue but check your harness as well to make sure it wasn’t chewed on or being pulled from the aftermarket intake routing.

I will do that right away this morning. See what I could find.

Thanks for the help.

Had that happen about a year ago. Truck had been driven, shut off, and when started back up got the red lightning bolt with no throttle response along with code P2138. Started and shut off the truck several times, finally cleared and I was able to drive home. Once home, I removed and cleaned the TB connector, and cleaned the TB (wasn't too dirty). Everything was fine until the other day, did the same thing. Removed and blew out the TB connector, and removed and blew out the Accelerator Postion Sensor connector (at the gas pedal). Things cleared, and so far all is good again. I do have a Moe's 87 mm ported TB, if that makes a difference.
