Is this happening on HD trucks? I ask because this is in the HD section of the forum. I haven’t had any issues on my 2018 2500 CC 6.4

I know certain fuel company nozzles are more likely to set my truck off with this issue. specifically Chevron nozzles in California. However, I've found if you insert the nozzle with the handle and hose 'clocked' so that the hose points towards 4 oclock, I can fill my tank without constant shut off issue. I used to avoid Chevrons, now I don't have any issues.
I asked about this ar the dealership yesterday and they said it is not covered by warranty and that I would have to pay for it to be fixed... are you serious! LolI have a 2018 Ram 1500, with the 5.7 and it just started doing this too. Never did it before till now, two different stations same results.
Well I am currently here at the dealership where I bought my truck at and the service manager here said no problem... they took it in and are now working on it... let you guys know what happensThis is mostly a Ca problem with the new State mandated VSR nozzles. "Some" of our Rams have filler necks that were riveted into the splash shield with the neck raised to high. This causes the filler neck to tilt to far back. This allows the gas nozzle to get wedged into the access opening to high and stuck. It also causes the nozzle flow to spray back and kick off the auto fill. (Just poor quality assembly meeting in a Socialist State) The fix is rather simple. Move/tilt the filler neck up and it changes the angle of the fuel opening. I fixed mine on the 2018 1500 3.6 Tradesman. From under the truck you can see the filler neck to the tank. Just above it is a sheet metal hole. I attached a rubber insulated wire chase to that hole. I wrapped the fuel fill line with a piece of protective rubber. Put a stainless steel 3" hose clamp around the line and up into the wire chase. This moved the neck up just enough to eliminate both problems. Will post a pic later today.
When AAA gets one of these "I can't get the gas nozzle out of my truck" calls. They ask it it is a Ram and they come out with a drill. They drill out the plastic rivets in the splash shield so that they can get the nozzle out,,,, after getting a customer release. Our local dealer knew about the problem but claimed the only solution is to replace the filler neck assembly with the "new part number" assembly, which is on back order.

Well they replaced the filler tube with part # 68448220-AA ... they said it was covered under warranty and I was actually only going for them to create the work order and they said it would have to be ordered ... the service manager then said hey they actually have the part and they are working on it .. an hour later they said it was done and they gave me my work order invoice ... we will see when I fill up again if this helped ...
definitely let us know if this helps. I'm assuming its a new part number for the tube? If it works, I might have a new weekend project to get done, depending how much the tube costs.
Any updates on this? Im having very similar issues with my 2018 right now. Dealer has replaced neck(not sure with which one) and a pump. They seem lost on what to do next.Well I had the chance to fill her up and unfortunately this didn't help at all ... it actually made things worse ... I am going to call the dealership after Xmas and see what is next .... fawken sucks !
