My truk has 1900 miles on it. Figure I will change it soon to syn oil but seems some people prefer to run reg oil for a couple oil changes before going to syn oil.

Why really?

Helps seat your rings and valves. I switched at around the same mileage as u. I am uaing mobile1 which I believe is just a conventional oil with a good additive package. I will use it for a couple changes and then run Amsoil or Redline the rest of the way.

THe Ol school rule was 12k miles. Just recently switched to synthetic on the wifes 12 Grand Cherokee. Use redline in my Hemi LX Car.

I changed my factory fill out at 2000 with Pennzoil yellow and when I hit 5000 I'm switching to a synthetic.

No warranty issues with going to syn.
I changed our oil to Amsoil XL at 5,000km and have never looked back.

Don't wait...change it!
Been using synth for 30+ years. Never had any regrets.
In fact, my beater 2003 chevy 4x4 with 300000KM still doesn't burn a drop of oil and I switched to synth right after I bought it new in 03. I never took very good care in terms of maintenance and at times there was 30,000km between oil changes. Still doesn't burn a drop.

Why would there be a warranty issue for using better oil then is called for?

Just checking that there isn't a "gotta use our stuff to keep our warranty" crap. Your definition of better (which i agree IS BETTER) doesn't mean they agree.

At 2500 I switched to a synthetic blend and next time around I'm going for a full synthetic

Dodge's flagship the Viper comes from the factory with Mobile 1.
Your dealer would have to be a total F-**** to denie warranty because of Synth.

I know Corvettes and Caddy's have been M1 in the past straight from the factory. If they deny you warranty work cause of oil they would have to spend money to find out what kind of oil you are using plus big chance of losing a customer for that crap. Dealer would be a bone head to do that.
