So i have a 17 laramie longhorn with remote start push button. here recently it has not wanted to start. like ill push the button and itll click once and thats it. starter doesnt try to do anything. tested the battery and starter and they are fine. so my question is, would i be able to replace just the ignition switch? and if i do that, will i need a new key, or something to program the SKIM or anything else?

Im sure you have checked this BUT worth saying
Engine light on?
Fuel level.

I am assuming you are talking about remote start?
Is the hood latch plug tight?
JUst a few things I can think of, as I am not a mechanic but in other posts on remote start using the fo this is what I have read.

Could you please clarify a few items that aren't clear?

Your subject line is; 'remote start ignition problems'.
Are you describing one problem or two?

The remote start is not functioning and the when you press the start button on the dash it only clicks once?
Or, when you press the start button on the FOB, it only clicks once?

it doesn't have spot for the key. its just the button. it doesn't pop out for a key. and no. nothing pops up at all before, during, or after.

What has no spot for the key, the start button on the dash?

And, how old is the battery?
How did you test the battery & starter?
Have you verified the battery connections are clean & snug?

sorry this isnt typed out nice and neat so bare with me. No engine light, no dash lights, nothing pops up on my scan tool. And i let people know its a remote start because the fob isnt the physical key where you can pop the button off and plug the fob key into and turn. also, because sometimes the remote start doesnt work. fuel is fine, everything dredger shared checks out fine. its one problem. but when the remote start doesnt work, i can still push start it. which also doesnt make sense to me as far as i can tell, the fob is fine. the battery is new, ive never gotta a warning that the fob cant be read or anything like that. correct, the start putton doenst have a button to insert the fob. its not a key fob so to speak. im unsure what the actual term is for either fob. the truck battery is only a 1 year and a month old mopar battery. key fob is newer. as far as i know both battery and starter checked out fine. terminals are squeaky clean. I also found one video on youtube of a guy that has the same problem. one video, and a lot of people apparently have this same issue in the 19s and up, and the common census seems to be the starter. but no definite answer.
