Hey guys, idk what thread to put this in so I’ll put it in general for now, I bought this truck back in may 2024 and since I’ve had it the remote start hasn’t worked, I didn’t really think of it all year but now in February in Alberta I’m gettin -30 and -40 for weeks at a time and I’d really like my remote start to work, I tried attaching 2 videos I took but apparently I can’t so I’ll just explain the best i can. It’s a 2011 Ram 1500 sport with the 5.7 Hemi

When my trucks warm, it’ll start up and seem like it’s running, but then after it runs for a couple seconds it’ll start to slowly die and just shutoff

When it’s out in the cold, it’ll just Crank for like 10 seconds but won’t turn over

It’s weird because I have no issues starting with the key in the truck, and we just rewired my fuel pump so it starts with the ignition properly now, so I have no idea what else it could be. Also, my engine light isn’t on so it shouldn’t be something to do with that

There are several things that could be causing the remote start to not operate properly. Even if the check engine light is off it does not mean that a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has not been stored or pending like @GTyankee stated.

The other place that needs to be check for DTC's is the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module). The TIPM is the fuse and relay center under the hood and it contains the TIPM.

There are several items in the PCM and the TIPM and the WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) that are required for remote start to operate. Things like the run/start request, hood latch signal, key fob, door latch, park/neutral request, etc. tie in to the remote start. One item like an open hood latch signal can trigger a remote start failure even though the truck will start with the key in the ignition.
