I tried searching, but I just can't find what I am looking for... :emotions133:

A friend of mine left his new truck with me for a few months to get a few things done. One of those things is a spray-in bed liner. My questions are: what is under the factory plastic bed rail covers? are there holes in the metal bed rails for mount clips? If I spray under the rails, do the plastic covers age well? (warping/cracking)

I am new to the "new" dodge truck and have a short list of modifications to get done, so you may see me pop up here and there. Fortunately I am no noob to forums and exhaust searching prior to asking.

There are multiple holes under those plastic bed rail covers, so I would not remove them. Just leave those as they are and spray everything else. Same goes for the plastic cover on top of the tailgate.

that's good to know. are they hard to remove? do the clips or attach points on the covers break when removing? I'm thinking I'd like to take them off and add some automotive 3M tape...they seem to flemzy on the edges.

now on to reseach more fun things like level kit, tires, k&n, exhaust.....

The clips break easily when trying to remove it, so I would just leave it there unless it starts to fall off on you. The caps are actually stronger than they look.

Now onto that fun stuff. I'm sure I can get you setup with everything you are looking for at a great price. I have everything you are looking for listed on my site, so take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

They are indeed held on with clips. If you look under the bed rails, you can see them.

Only way mine would come off is if I made a headache rack for the truck. And until it's got a lift and larger tires... That's not happenin!

I had mine removed when I had my spray in liner done. The body shop used some foil type tape over the holes and sprayed over the tape. I was worried at first, but they assured me that they have done this process for years. So far it is holding up fine. the ares where the tape are are not even soft. Its as if the whole bed rail is solid. The plastic cover on the tail gate is another story. I left that alone.

Do you have any pictures it seems like you are the only one who has done this. I'm thinking I'll do it as well
