Replaced a programmed bcm, everything works but the truck won’t recognize the key and won’t start.

Ok so I did some stupid **** and tinted the windshield on the truck, truck goes haywire. So the truck run and drives fine but the tail lights aren’t working properly. I unplug the battery to reset everything plug it back in and before I start the truck all the lights work, start it and back to not working. So I got a bcm programmed to my vin I install it and everything works except I can’t start the truck like the keyfob will unlock lock but it will not start. Wondering what’s happening and what I need to do, I’m confused.

Check your RF Hub behind the rear passenger drivers' side, what trim level do you have, if it's a high trim there may be sensors in the windshield.

It’s a limited longhorn, and I got the bcm programmed to my vin. When I installed the new one everything works the screen comes on tells me to start the truck lights work perfect, even the the message to press the brakes and push start comes on the cluster but nothing happens when I push start. It’s weird as hell cause the keyfob will unlock and lock the doors it will even lower the truck I hit the remote start and only get one horn not two.

Yea lol, it fried my bcm that’s why I had to get a new one. Tint has since been removed, im just trying to get my RF hub to I’m guessing acknowledge my key to start the truck. I’m forgot to ask on the last reply but what I’m I looking at/for on the RF hub.

There's been a problem with the RF Hub I think the dealer has to reprogram it, its covered under your Warrantee, you have a new truck!!

Yea right I do, i just don’t really have the convenience off dropping off the truck for 3 weeks to a dealership at this moment. I use my truck for work.

The part of the fob that needs to be recognized is the transponder chip. That's not the part of the fob that works the locks. I believe the new BCM doesn't know the transponder chip ID. If you have alfaOBD, there might be something there to get the BCM to pick up the chip ID from the RF hub. You may need the PIN which may be what the BCM is looking for.

You’ll need to have the dealership run the BCM replaced routine in the rf hub. AlfaOBD can not do this.

Nope. Not with AlfaOBD on the 5th Gen rams.

So I guess Dodge decided to put the bcm under the dash on the driver side so when you are tinting the windshield the moisture seeps down and fries some ****

That is not a problem with tint, that is a problem with excessive moisture caused by improper application of the tint.

I wouldn’t say improper application, I would say lack of research before installation.

Are you sure it was actually the bcm that got damaged and not something else? Have you tried holding the key to the start button? The normal enter and go keyless ignition uses a RF transponder in the fob whereas holding it to the button uses the passive rfid portion. This is the same procedure if the batteries in your fob were dead.
