Thanks man! The factory inserts just pop out, there just held on by a bunch of clips so zero cutting at all. Only gotta drill 8 holes for mounting the new mesh inserts and that's it.SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!
Did you have to cut out the factory part or did it pop out
Looks great
Thank you man I appreciate it!grill looks great
Weird about the fitment mine were spot on. I drilled everything while it was bare plastic but they didn't rub at all they basically just dropped right in. But if they are scuffing up the primer then once it's painted (after a few days) you can take a piece of painters tape, stick it to your shirt then peel it off (this covers the adhesive with lint so it sticks but doesn't REALLY stick if that makes sense) and put the tape across where it's rubbing, then screw in the inserts just enough so they are in and then tear apart the tape and peel off. It'll be a little bit of a pain getting the tape all off once the inserts are in but if it's rubbing real bad then that will save your clear from scratches and provably worth the trouble.Hey Ramportin1 I just purchased these inserts for my 08. Working on repainting the grille shell and getting ready to drill my holes for the inserts. I've noticed that the fitment is not perfect but I have them lined up so it looks pretty close. My question is do you have any tips for how to NOT scuff up the new paint when installing/ any tips when drilling? I was thinking of taping the inserts to the grill so they wont move when I go to mark my holes for drilling. Right now I am just in the primer stage on the shell but when lining up the inserts to mark my drill holes the metal has scuffed up my primer pretty bad. May just be the primer but I do not want to screw up my fresh paint. Figured I'll give it a week to cure before putting the inserts in
Honestly when i first recieved them i was questionable about them only being mounted by 2 screws each, but those locking tabs really work. about 2 months ago or so i checked the screws to see if any needed to be tightened and they were all 100% tight. Its been 9 months now and not a single screw has budged and the powder is still perfect. Still would highly recommend these inserts to anyone just as much as when i first got them.Good call there man, I think that's what I will do. Trying to get the holes drilled before I get it painted up all pretty. Do the inserts hold up well with just the two screws? looks like they are well made just doesn't seem like much to hold them in!
Did you get the black or chrome inserts? If you dont mind could you post the finished pics here or send me a link to them, id love to see how it turns out!Good call there man, I think that's what I will do.
