Replacement tailgate cables too short.

I bought replacement cables from 1A Auto which are listed as 18 1/2 inches center to center and 19 1/4 OA, which they are (I measured). When installed, my tailgate does not open flat, but quite high.

What is the proper length and where can I get them?

I would maybe look on lmc truck. Im not sure

Looked at LMC, but there are no specs for the cables. If they're the same length, it does me no good.

Anyone have their cables and know the length?

How about the dealer! I'd bet Ram would provide the correct length as they assembled yours. Makes it easy to return them. Or try one of our Mopar vendors.

I suspect they gave you the wrong cables. Rock Auto lists them as 18 1/8" bolt to bolt length.

do you got a picture of what the top is hooked to? i could be wrong but it almost looks like you might have the top one bolted to the tailgate latch pin which is too high.

Problem resolved. Not sure what the issue was, but they fit now. I don't think I put them on the wrong peg, but the hinge bushings are completely shot, and that may have had something to do with it.

Looking back at the pic i think you did put em on the wrong peg. If you look across to the other side that you don't have on, the cable peg is about 1-2" below the top of the taillight whereas where you had it attached is above

i know someone that made that same exact mistake on 2nd gen. i think it had to do with the round loop that will actually fit over the tailgate latch peg.
