replacing factory radio

Hello all I bought my truck (2010 1500) with a cheap aftermarket radio but I prefer the stock radio. Now if I buy another stock radio and install it will it need to be "unlocked" by the dealership or will I need a code to unlock it? Or is this not an issue with our radios.

It is the basic radio with serious no u connect or anything like that.

might be cheaper to get a cheap double din if you don't like that radio. Stock stuff can tend to get expensive. I couldn't tell you if it needs to be unlocked since I've never went back to stock but I'd ask your dealer.

Like Etroze said... you can get a nice double din to fit in the dash for a lot less than a factory unit.

If a factory unit is a necessity... most of the ones you find on Ebay are already unlocked and plug and play. You only need to get the dealer involved if you need the radio flashed to get the steering wheel controls or other features that are not already unlocked.

believe it or not the sound from that pioneer will be night and day difference than what a factory will be.

I have a stock cd/dvd touch screen that came out my 2012 if your interested... and if it will work. Whether its plug and play i dont know, maybe someone else can chime in.

I want to be able to use the steering wheel controlls and I can't with this radio. Also I hate the controlls on this current radio.
