Is it necessary to get new fobs or can the old fobs be reused to reprogram?
That is a question for your dealer. Somewhere along the line, RAM used one-use FOBs, that is, they could only be married to a vehicle once. I don't know how true that is but the owner's manual for my 2022 states this as does the owner's manual for my 2015. I don't know if anyone has figured out how to reset the FOB's electronics to a v.i.r.g.i.n. (damn censorship) state.
Here is the verbiage from my 2022 owner's manual in the section titled "Programming And Requesting Additional Key Fobs".
NOTE:
Once a key fob is programmed to a vehicle, it
cannot be repurposed and reprogrammed to
another vehicle.
(what is meant by "another" vehicle)
Until you get an answer from your dealer, I wouldn't purchase any FOBs from Amazon, eBay, or other sources just yet because you don't know if it has ever been married to a vehicle.
The other question is, can one FOB be learned in addition the the FOB that is already learned? I recall on an older vehicle I had, the FOB relearn erased all FOBs and then had to relearn them one at a time.
It would be great if you would post back what you learned.
