I have a 2011 RAM 1500 Outdoorsman. My question is Can I simply replace my RES 130 radio with a RBZ 430 radio? Would it be plug n play ? My RES does have satellite radio that works. It has the U-Connect buttons, But it Says Not Installed.. Thanks for any help!

I believe RAM uses a high speed CANBUS so you will need a high speed RBZ. Also, the bluetooth module is separate on the RBZ so if you don't have it (or bluetooth connectivity) the new radio won't have it. I don't know if the microphones are present. The satellite account will need to be transferred to the new radio.
I did this swap on my 2011 Challenger when it was less than a year old. That one is low speed bus.

If you do it, I might be interested in your old RES 130 radio. Shoot me a PM if after the swap.
Thanks

Hi Jeepwalker, the reason I want to swap it out is that the Am/Fm quit working. It's been like that for awhile, the Sat's still working though.

No, it shouldn't need anything, should be plug and play. If he added the bluetooth\hands free module that would need to be added via AlfaOBD. Saw your other post, I "might" havs an RES somewhere in the garage I pulled out of my son's 2012, Ill do some digging if you might be interested. I do know I have an RHR available, I was bidding on two radios for my son's and happened to win them both, so that's available as well if you're interested, but I'll look for the RES

CHRYSLER MYGIG Radios

Before 2009, all radios made by Chrysler were called Low Speed Can Bus,
I will call it Single Wire

In 2009, all Ram 1500s, ( i don't know about Ram HD models ),
were High Speed Can Bus C, Two Wire, works with more than 1 computer or module.
Also in 2009, 2 models of JEEP, the 2 were the fancy models, had High Speed Can Bus C

In 2009 & possibly 2010, there was a very basic RES 130 Radio.
Then another model was released, it was also called RES 130, but BlueTooth was added to it, it has a Phone Button & the radio was then called the RES 130s

Ok, so that's the exact radio I have in your pic GTyankee and you say it's a RES 130s. When I press the phone button it reads Not Equipped with Uconnect function. So if I swap to this RBZ 430 radio it should still be plug and play? Thanks for the response's.RBZ 430.jpg

IF the radio was complete, it would need the Uconnect Module
That would be found on the passenger side, behind the Right Foot Kick Panel.
Personally, i do not use Uconnect, to me, it is waste of $$$

I only use BlueTooth

I'll be willing to bet that it is the solder joint in the radio where the antennae connects. Get it to a good radio repair shop, they can fix it.

Good suggestion. That's what I thought too. I had it apart a couple yrs ago. I didn't specifically see any bad solder joints...and I have a pretty good eye for them. So I touched a lot of them anyway with the soldering iron. It worked for a little while ...then stopped. So obviously it was something along those lines. It's been an easy job to keep kicking down the road..what with my mom being real sick last cple yrs..and recently passing away. I might consider trying it again though, maybe I missed one, or it flaked out again. (??).

Good idea though.
