Has anyone removed the resinators from a 4 gen but kept everything else stock? Will it make it louder without the drone of a muffler swap?

the sound increase with a stock muffler would probably be very minimal and not worth the money it would cost imo

exactly, only increase the odd MDS in/out exhaust tone when driving on the highway. I'd say keep em.

Actually............you'd be surprised at the difference.

I run a stock muffler, no resos. Nice little growl to it (little). When I want to be raunchy, I open the cutout. :D

So what effect does mds have on a mufflex 24? Does it sound like a ricer still or do the resonators take care of that?

Dang. Guess I'm just gonna maybe do an intake later on down the road. I had a Volant on my Xterra and it was pretty good. I like the closed box designs.

I would not get a 24" muffler when i bought the truck i bought it with the impression it was stock with an intake only. Come to find out 3 days later a check engine light comes on i get the codes pulled and point to exhaust i look closely under the hood and suprise i have long tube headers running to a 24" magnaflow and the truck sounded stock!!
