I live in Florida and deal with a lot of rain. You could always make something to cover those areas, but when the rain is really bad, I don't know if you can reasonably keep the water out. You could make a flap for that area and somehow attach it to the truck. That's about the only thing I can think of. If I remember, I will check again after the next rain to see how much water is let in with this. I haven't even had one drop of rain since I got it...lol. Figures.
