I bought a rebuilt title 2020 1500 that had the passenger side door replaced due to a sideswipe. The mirror works with regards to adjusting the actual mirror, but when I go to hit the retract button I hear a whine/motor sound coming from it, but it doesn't retract. It seems to want to, and moves a hair, but after 10 seconds of trying it stops trying. Any thoughts on what this might be or how to fix it?

Sounds like something is broke inside the mirror that rotates it in an out. Even if you manually fold the mirror in, one or two presses of the power fold button it should return back to normal operation.
If anyone states that manually folding these power mirrors breaks them, that's a load of male cow feces

Your mirror exhibits the same behavior mine did. The motors have a plastic spur gear in them, and they are prone to breaking; that's what happened to mine. I replaced the spur gear in both mirrors with an all-metal one, and haven't had any problems since.

Where did you find these metal spur gears?
