I have had wrecker trucks in front of my big rig turn on their rear work lights because they apparently thought I was on high beam So I turn on the high beam then but I don't tailgate them and they either turn off their work lights or don't.I think they are doing the most suffering anyway.lol

Jimmy07 Doubtful I'd blind them. It's daylight when I go to work and go home, which is when I get people on my ass. It's more like a warning. I was hit with reverse light pods because I flashed my brights when he cut me off. That's what gave me the idea in the first place, but it didn't blind me.

Like I said maybe I'll just do the license plate flip to a **** off plate
So first you're being tailgated, then you're getting cut off, then you're flashing your high beams at him.
There's a chance that the other guy is on some other forum, complaining about you. :)

I mounted a set of spot lights on a pair of angle iron brackets on the receiver hitch under the truck and wired them with a relay to my rear bed lights. After I lock it or un lock the truck they come on with the remote. I spliced into the wire for the rear light at the base of the drivers door. I have a 18 and my wire color was white with a tan stripe. I checked the bcm and verified it does not see the extra lights. It doesn't set a code.

Idk how to do it, but could try a button to activate brake lights without actually applying the brakes? Not sure laws on that either, but hey seems fair as long as you're not slowing down

I try to move over but I'm usually going pretty fast myself. If the driver is really obnoxious I hit the manual switch on my brake controller. They usually back off pretty quick.

But if they really want to pass, have at it. My radar detector works better when there is someone in front of me tripping the speed traps.

Two major reasons for someone being tailgated.. they're either traveling too slow in the left lane(s) or they're oblivious to the world around them usually because of texting and/or talking their cellphone.
Most states have laws on the books for slow traffic to stay in the right lanes(it's not always posted) and they require people use handsfree devices to use the phone while driving.
If you are not from Houston you don't understand, there are too many people on the roads there and a big part of them do love tailgating. It doesn't matter how fast you drive there, there is someone always tailgating you wanting to pass whether it is in a legal. passing zone or not.

Scanning through some Texas vehicle laws one says:

Avoid installing any device that impairs the effectiveness or color of your headlights or tail lights and make sure that your license plate is clear of decals or coverings that obscure the letters and numbers on your plate.

They are behind you and have your plate, possibly on dash cam. If a bright light (interfering with red, your not backing up) causes them to have an accident or even pretend to have one which leads to call the police it will only go downhill. Let the other drivers do what they do and make it their fault. It can be frustrating sometimes.

I have this idea to put the reverse lights in the tail lights on a switch that I can flip on if someone is on my ass.

I don't want to put LED pods in my bumper. I have really bright reverse and cargo lights. I was thinking of how to make it so if I hit cargo button the reverse lights come on too. I'd be fine with my cargo light coming on in reverse as well.

Dude, awesome idea. Years ago on my Dads truck, he had bright lights in the bumper, and they were awesome in getting idiots to stop tailgating you.

Why would you want to temporarily (and purposely) blind someone, and increase the chances that he rear ends you, or worse, hits someone else and injuring them?

Here's a thought....then idiots shouldn't tailgate. Simple as that.

Nope life doesn’t work that way. Nothings that simple anymore.

I hate tailgaters as much as you do but in today’s world you’re up ***** creek if you blind someone with lights and they run into the back of you. Sucks and I agree tailgaters are frustrating but I just choose to worry about myself and let them continue being jackasses.

If you’re so worked up about other drivers that it’s leading you to modifying you vehicle to get back at them then it might be time to take a step back lol.

LOL, nope, personally I could care less. I'm not modding my Ram in any way to get back at anybody. Any and all mods I do to my truck, are for me, and me alone.

Lock up your brakes.

When the cop shows up, at the hospital cuase the second you stopped, after the crash, you flopped like a fish. tell him you lost one transmission to a big damn critter cracking your plastic transmission pan and when you saw the one in front of you, just b4 the accident, you panicked braked.

The ******** behind you should have been driving within his abilities to maintain control of his car.

I don't run over crap with these plastic Tranny pan covers.
