Hi all. 2021 ram tradesman 2500. it has the mirrors that you extend or roll out for pulling campers. so far this only happened on the passenger side, drivers side is working normal. couple weeks ago i got back from a camping trip, i rolled the mirrors back in and found the door controls that move the mirrors are not the same as the direction the mirrors actually go. with the mirror rolled or extended out the inside door controls are normal but with the mirror rolled back in for normal driving they are not. they actually move:
door control down arrow moves mirror out.
door control up arrow moves mirror in.
door control right arrow moved mirror up.
door control left arrow moves mirror down.
i have extended the mirror in and out couple times, each time the mirror is back normal the door control works fine but that only last for a few minutes then its back to wacky. it doesn't look like the mirrors come apart for repair so i'm assuming it will have to be replaced. does anyone have any input on this, maybe have seen this before and if there is a fix for it??? thanks

I don't know exactly what the sensor is, but there is a mechanism that senses the mirror is turned 90 degrees when "rolled out" and so sends a signal to the door switch control to alter the functions of the switch so that moving the switch one way translates correctly to a mirror movement. What you are describing is that when you bring the mirror back to standard position it still thinks it is out in the towing position.

If you have extended warranty take it to dealer. If not, you are probably out of warranty (?) so you can maybe do a test. Try removing passenger mirror and plug it into the driver side plug and see if switch works correctly for position of passenger mirror. If not, the problem is in mirror and may need to order new one. If the (driver) switch correctly moves the passenger mirror the problem is maybe in the switch.

Hopefully someone else has a better idea and will chime in. Good luck.
