Running boards

I own a 2018 Ram 1500 with short back door( quad/crew?? can never remember) my running boards are rotting off. I picked up a set cheap from a guy with a 2012 ram. Same bed and back seat set up. The brackets line up ok but thw mounts are different. Has anyone here modified older running boards to fit newer truck? If so... enlightening me! Thanks un advance!

2018 is a 4th Gen, they should fit, any chance you are putting them on the wrong side? If it’s close to lining up do the brackets come off?
You could loosen them so you have some room to adjust, then retighten.
Get some pic’s if you can & you might post again in the 4th Gen exterior section, this is a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable members, I’m sure someone will be able to help you.
