So for those of you that have done the s&b cai did the top cover sit flush? Mine was just a little too long so when it is mounted with the screws in there is a gap on either side from the cover bending in to reach the screw holes. This gap is going to allow it to pull air from inside the engine compartment. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

Minor. The majority of air will be cool air. Any leakage still goes through filter, so, so what?

Davy120 is correct, i did that to mine, I called S&B about the fit, they sent me a new lid, i just never looked at it because i know its sealed now. I think its the screw holes. thats why it has small gaps on each side. i was just going to make the screw holes bigger but i never got around to it. so its now a TRUE CAI lol

I think they had a run of lids where the holes were drilled slightly off. If you elongate those holes, it should line up correctly and seal a little better. Even with the small gap in the lid, it wont affect performance as it is still drawing in air from the fender and the front mounted scoop. Any air that comes through that gap would be minimal.

I lined my lid with sponge tape to prevent engine bay air from getting in. Simple and cheap fix.
