Well after a couple of years of going back and forth on weather or not to get an intake for my truck, I pulled the trigger on a S&B from Matt at Moe's Performance. I gotta say Matt takes care of the Veterans of this great country and I won't hesitate to buy from him again.

Now to the intake, fit and finish I will give a 9 out of 10. The reason it isn't 10/10 is the plexi glass cover. It looks great till you get close and notice that it doesn't seal down all the way, to remedy this I think I will be slotting the bolt/screw holes just a bit. The other thing is it doesn't come flush up to the edge of the recess that they designed into the air box for it. To me that would give it a 100% OEM fit and finish.

Performance is the reason we all buy a CAI and this one didn't disappoint for the short little drive I have to work. Throttle response seems to be a ton better, it feels like it took a ton of lag out of the pedal which is a huge annoyance for me. Seat of pants says I gained a few ponies but it could also be a placebo effect of getting a new toy installed on the truck. It also gave it a little more mellow/low growl to my exhaust which is a Stainless Works cat back.

All in all I am 99.5% happy with my purchase and would buy the S&B again as it just seems like it belongs in the engine bay of our trucks.
Thanks for reading and hope this helps with anyone on the fence about this intake.

Just ordered one as well, in fact according to my UPS tracking # it's scheduled to arrive today :)

Now I just need to get this damn stereo finished so I can put it and the new exhaust that is just sitting in a box right now into the truck!

Had one for 2+ years now--lots of praise, no complaints.
Worked great in snow and ice, even with the lower section left unplugged without a snorkel installed.
Even cleaning and oiling the filter is easy.
I suppose replacing the dry filter would be even easier, but I kind of like not buying a new filter over and over again...........again....again.

I with you on that and its why I went with the oiled filter cause of the convenience thing.

Mine is oiled as well. What are you using for cleaning/oiling it? Would just a K&N kit work?

glad to read the positive feedback, i'm still on the S&B / Vararam fence but the quality on the S&B definately looks better imo..

BC I'm going to talk with Matt and see what works best with the cleaning kit and CMil I was too but the thing I kept seeing come up was the vararam and snow argument. I live out in the middle of nowhere so if half of the talk is true about snow piling up, I am better off going with a closed box design like the S&B.

I had heard some rumor that the CAI doesnt really provide much added performance unless you have also upgraded the exhaust and tuned so that the engine is asking for more air. Otherwise you are mostly just gaining the added sound of the intake...anybody else familiar with this theory?

Familiar big reason it took two years to make up my mind. I look at it this way I want my truck to look and sound a certain way, if I gain a few ponies out of it great but I don't want to compromise anymore.

Not rumor it's actually been posted here in othe CAI threads. I'm still sceptical as to whether or not it increases performance.

I've been on the fence for one as well for 2 years. Having read you posts here almost had me pulling the trigger. Even if it doesn't add additional performance I would hope to gain a couple of mpg's, I did on my 07 Ram with a K&N CAI.

I wish I could give more info on the MPG portion of it but my trips are literally a mile to work so my truck actually idles more than its driven to get up to temp.

So I guess you won't be adding the available scoop in the future?
I'm definitely getting the S&B, on the fence about whether I order the scoop at the same time...

I am not as my truck doesn't see the track anymore tires just get way to expensive to run down the strip.

Matt at Moes Performance told me it isn't worth it to get the scoop. He said all the tests they've done done see enough gain from it.

I like the looks of the S + B above all others, and I'm sure it adds a nice little bit of sound. If I was so inclined to do a CAI, the S + B dry would be at the top of the list.
