My work got me and a coworker a rental truck to take on the road and do a job because all our work trucks were already out. Ended up with a 1500 ram 2wd with the 5.7. We loaded 2000 l s worth of boring bars hand tools and a hydraulic unit and took the 1300 mile trip from STL to central Utah. Holy hell am I impressed with the pure power that damn motor has. We make it the whole way through the Rockies averaging 20.8mpg and never said "man I wish there was a little more there" totally BAD ASS!!!
On the other hand...when you overload one of these beasts 1000lbs over payload.....plan on taking it easy. That load straight up shook the truck from left to right on a sometimes scary level. Had there been a 2500 available it would have been but at the short notice we had unfortunately it was not. Either way just complex blown away at how well the truck did. And will again on the way home in a few days. All in all we made it and had a good drive. Maybe I'll update this week after the ride home just felt like talking about how bad ass these trucks are for a minute and I'm sure no one else will mind lol.
