Closing in on things with the 2014 ram. I believe it has the UConnect 5.0 I have a Samsung S24 which I know little about (great huh?) I see or THINK (which is dangerous) that there is a Uconnect that comes with the vehicle and there is a "PLAN" for 15.00 a month. I'm not interested in getting bent over the fender so Am I able to connect my phone for calls? Am I able to stream music from say spotify at all (at no charge) and if so can that b done wirelessly with the phone in the truck or does it have to be connected via USB. Be aware I'm pretty challenged in this area :baby::laughing1:
TIA for any help

Uconnect is ok-ish. You do not need a subscription to use any of the onboard features like making calls via your phone, connecting your phone for music, etc. You can hook up your phone via USB or via bluetooth.

My recommendation:

Just plug your phone in via USB and use Android Auto, which is also built in. Vastly superior to Uconnect for voice recognition, navigation, etc. See your manual on how to use Android auto voice recognition over Uconnect. AA will also let you send texts by voice where Uconnect only sends predefined messages.

There are devices that will let you use Android Auto wirelessly, and the newest radios have it built in, but a 2014 will need to be plugged in without the aftermarket device.

Unless the radio has been upgraded, you can connect your phone through Bluetooth or USB plug in center console. Gives you hands free calling connection. It WILL NOT have Android Auto.

Wrench is connect, ignore my comments on AA above. AA didn't start until 2017, I was thinking it was earlier for some reason.
I think it's 2018 or 2019 That started with AA/AP. I have a 2017 Laramie and I still don't have AA. Thinking about doing a swap out from AA model Infotainment.

Thanks to all that replied. I happened to stumble across a few posts/ videos recommending various NEW head units form AMZ which is tempting but I might try the USB first and go from there. Especially as I'm not in the truck on a regular basis

Thanks again :happy160:

Not sure of your setup, But my center console arm rest has 1 usb power, and in the center main storage there is 1 USB port. The one in the main center storage
connects to the radio. 20240410_141659.jpg

You can connect your phone wirelessly to allow phone calls to run through the radio, do not need to pay for Uconnect. Make sure phone has Bluetooth on. Go to pair in your radio, follow instructions and you are set.

Post your VIN (typed out all CAPs) and we can link your factory build sheet and window sticker for download to see exactly what you're working with.

For 13-17 ram trucks... (w/o AA/CP)
Ra1/wVP1 3.0" radio > uConnect 3.0
Ra2/Vp2 5.0" radio > uConnect 5.0

Ra3/Vp3-xx 8.4" radio > uConnect 8.4 (3c non nav)
Ra4/Vp4-xx 8.4" radio > uConnect 8.4 (3c Nav)

The naming is very confusing.

2018-22 Classic 4th Gen trucks added the (4c series 8.4 radios with Android Auto/Carplay)

UAs/VP4-A 8.4" radio > uConnect 8.4 (4c non nav)
UAq/Vp4-A 8.4" radio > uConnect 8.4 (4c Nav)
