So I finally broke down and bought an SCT from hemifever. I did not get the custom tune as I only have bolt-on's for the time being and couldn't justify the extra $100 yet.
That being said I loaded the 87 octane tune up right before heading for school. This is a 110 mile round trip with mainly interstate driving and some two lane. The difference was HUGE. No longer did she stumble and stutter on part throttle take off, gone was the funky and weak shifts, a smooth steady torque curve is all I felt.
My normal RPM range is 2k on interstate which use to leave me right at 70 mph, in the slow lane. Now 2k puts me at 75 mph which is a hell of an improvment, but even better is the pull north of 2k. Use to be running 80 MPH meant 2500-2700 RPM depending on hill<no flat spots here> now it is only 2200-2500 RPM.
The smooth way she is pullin now makes me want to yank the 318 and rebuild it with a slightly better TQ cam, some gasket matching, and a bit of a bump in compression, O and a custom tune from hemifever LOL.
All in all I would say if your thinking about ANY tuner go with the SCT just for it's ability to be changed at a later date with custom tunes if wanted. And by all means go with hemifever for some damn good customer service and FAST shipping!!
