Seems like lack of performance support at times

I want to start out by saying that I love my Ram truck, and I would not trade it for any other truck on the market. When it comes to stock performance it is hard to beat the Ram, but when it comes to performance support, it seems like it's lacking, look at a Silverado 1500 you have GM performance parts, SLP, and Lingenfelter that offer performance mods that work with warranty. Ford F150 has Ford Racing, Rousch (and I'm sure others), Tundra has an awesome supercharger available from TRD. Seems like the Ram has Mopar and not to much else unforunately. Yes I do understand that there are companies like Procharger and Kennebell, but as soon as you put one on forget about any warranty, I personly wouldn't mind paying a higher price if mopar offered a supercharger or something like ported heads, etc. and it was covered under warranty. I'm not sure what other members think but it's just my thought, but even though there isn't manufacture support like other brands, I WOULD NOT TRADE MY RAM FOR ANYTHING ELSE.

I will toast to that. Think i might have saw some things on the truck toys site that didn't void warranties i could be wrong though. Have to investigate further

Welcome to dealing with Mother Chrysler. Aftermarket support is non existent, even Mopar Performance parts can void your factory warranty, and you're expected to know exactely what will work on your vehicle because nobody else seems to.

I started looking at companies that offer performance kits, even though that car manufacturer doesn't, through dealerships. I've looked at Hennessey Performance (known very well for their Vipers) because they have people at dealerships that install their kits. Hennessey has a HPE500 kit for the dodge rams, and most places that install theirs kits only go up to HPE700 kits. My main question is if the dealership is installing these kits, will there still be a factory warranty on the vehicle? Yes Hennessey does offer a warranty on their kits. I also seen Edlebrock E force supercharger kit for a Ram has a 5 year, 100k thousand power train warranty as long as you use their tune, best part 50 state legal, lol. I feel that I need to email the companies and then email the dealerships that do the work, to find out warranty stuff, But like I said, it might be more then say buying a procharger and installing it yourself, but if it keeps the warranty it would be worth it. If I find anything out I will be sure to post on the forums, because I know that there are more members like me out there.

Don't buy anything from John Hennessey. He's a crook. He has been know to take customers cars mod of their cars and put them on others.

You need to realize if you want to mod your truck, you shouldn't be worrying about your warranty. It's part of the game...

I think TRD is the only company were the warranty won't get void as long as the parts were installed at a Toyota dealership.

I would think if a dealership adds anything, it would be covered under warranty.

Yeah, but Toyota is the only the company that will install TRD performance stuff...

GM or anybody else for that matter won't install anything that's not factory, weather is from GM performance or whatever.

The dealership may provide warranty work, but it is no longer the 'factory' warranty. This is very common in our dealerships out here that mod trucks for the lot. Any day of the week you can see 3-4 trucks with a 4" lift, 35" rubber on aftermarket wheels, and a few other basic mods that have <50kms on them. They are always the first to sell too, but warranty work can only be done by the dealership that installed the parts. Chrysler Canada is extremely strict about about mods as we don't have a Magnusson-Moss act.

No, just no. Stay as far away from Hennessey as you can. That's almost as bad as dealing with DynoSteve at RDP. They will mod your vehicle then when things start breaking it's not their fault, so you either pay them more money to 'handle the power' or pay them to 'fix' the problems.

If you want to seriously mod these vehicles just expect to void your drivetrain warranty or stick with basic bolt-ons. The Edelbrock warranty hasn't been tested by anyone on any of the forums I'm on, but a past example was ATS who had a 5yr warranty on their 'built' trans but after the 4th trans rebuild started baulking on their warranty on vehicles only making 500rwhp.

Ford will install certain 'approved' packages on the F150 and mustang but if yo deviate from their approval and again it's a toasted warranty. The adage of 'you gotta pay to play' always means more than just the initial purchase price of the parts, and most people don't think about that... then complain.

I havent talked to my dealership about any engine mod stuff, but he did state they sell lift kits (Mopar) and would install them and warranties would still be good. You have got to admit, there are probably hundreds if not thousands or more people getting over on dealerships with mods via getting work done or taking them off and then getting work done and that probably eventually causes problems with the "regular" dealership visit for warranty work getting hasseled.

Yeah, I was talking more on the line of Superchargers

I will keep saying it, but if your worried about the warranty. You shouldn't be modding your truck.

Umm, yeah we all do that when put the stock tune back in or the stock intake. Even though most dealer don't bother with intakes. It's the tune is what they don't like.

Every place is different, but don't expect the best service with a lopping loud blown hemi pulling up to the service bay..

and the Magnusson-Moss act is BS. A dealer can void your warranty how ever they please. They could careless about the Magnusson-Moss act. Now I have noticed they seem to be more lenient with mods because of that act but it's not the Constitution. lol

Ford will install superchargers on the cars, as long as they are from ford. Mind you thought they will tell you if you go to the next stage, you will no longer have a warranty, 500-600 horses is not to horrible for the first stage in my honest opinion. Yes i due understand that to play you need to pay, ex. Ford Racing supercharger is 7900, and another 2500-3500 to install. So you are looking over 10k, but it doesn't void the warranty. The sad thing is that other companies offer performance upgrades through manufacture, but I find it hard to believe Mopar offers ported heads and cam for the hemi, but it automacticly voids your warranty. Stock for stock Chrysler can keep up or beat the competition, but when it comes to support from the manufactorer like the others, they are falling way behind. Do I wish there was better support for our vehicles, YES, but there isn't and nothing can be done about, maybe and hopefully it will change in time but I have my doubts.

we can only dream for more " OEM " aftermarket support, but it will never happen. Every brand has there positves / negatives. even if it was available, the prices would still be rediculous.

hell chevy offers a Borla Dual Exhaust on their new 14's if your willing to spend 1250$ for it. when the same still overpriced kit can be bought for 400-600$ cheaper else where. its like they make it available to you, but the the premium is insane, so then you dont end up modding your truck.
