The shocks in my truck are starting to get a little soft. I'll make it through the Winter but I'm hoping to replace them sometime this Spring. I've been looking at the Monroe Gas-Magnum truck shocks as they are "heavy duty" and about the same price as standard replacements on Rock Auto. Anyone think these are a good choice, or would you recommend something else?

Thanks in advance. :favorites13:

Munroes will work just fine, a lot of people use them. Bilsteins cost more but are better quality.

I've really liked my Gas-Magnums I've put in all three trucks.

If you've got the coil, buy Bilstein, if not, get the Gas-Magnums.

Thanks for the input, guys. The Bilsteins look pretty nice, but run almost 3x as much as the Monroes. Of course, I always prefer to get the good stuff whenever possible, LOL.

Can anyone chime in on the longevity of the Bilsteins? Not real sure how long the average shock lasts in a truck but I'm curious as to how the Bilsteins compare to others.

I have two years on my 5100's and they still ride like new, winter salt has taken a toll on the looks but thats it. They might clean up but I have not yet tried. Next spring I will be going to King shocks.

I have a few friends who have had 5100s go over 100k. But that's on a lighter truck with less dirt time.

I found the gas magnums for $100 for 4 at advance auto. They ride ok in my book.
