I modified H9 bulbs to replace the stock H11 bulbs in my non-projector quad headlights and it is like night and day. Twice as bright and now I don't mind the headlights. Very simple 2 minute mod btw.

Great review! I just picked up a 2015 ccsb about 2 weeks ago and I am loving it so far. I just hit 1000 miles today, only complaints I have and I'm a nit-picker is the brakes do feel a little weak IMO and mine squeal real bad for about 30 seconds after starting it up while driving through my neighborhood, this just started happening yesterday. Only seems to do it after truck has sat for a while.
Mine is barebones also, I wish I would have gotten a backup cam (because I can't find a good aftermarket one, and I either need to upgrade radio or add a monitor in the cab to view it) and maybe 3.92 gears. I don't tow much but I had a loaner for a day, it was a outdoorsman model I believe and wow it screamed! From 0-80mph while getting on the expressway, would leave mine for dead. I have 3.21 in the rear .

Could you post more about this or PM me. I dislike the lights very much.

RE crappy brakes - do your pads need to be bedded?

I came from the car world too so please forgive me if it's not a thing with truck brakes.

In the performance car world, you had to bed new brakes (i.e., deposit a thin layer of pad material on the rotor) before you would get good brake performance.

How to Bed-in Brake Pads - The Best Technique for Bedding in Brake Pads

Their recommendations have you stop after heating the brakes, which I would never do - I'd do this in a deserted area and drive for 30 minutes without applying brakes to cool them off.

brakes

Did some digging on Mopar website regarding brakes.. The part number for the brake pads has changed in 2014 for front and rear. While the part number for the rotors has stayed the same sense 2009.

Part number front brake pads 2009-2013 #05143350AC
Part number front brake pads 2014 #V1013350AC

Part number rear brake pads 2009-2013 #V2010563AD
Part number rear brake pads 2014 #60071076AB

There are also price differences.

Not sure if this has anything to do with performance issues or not.

The brake thing must be particular to the 1500's? My new 2500 has amazing brakes. The damn thing stops like a sports car! LOL

My black paint is crap on this truck. Which every factory dodge paint job ive owned and family members owned was junk. They just arent up to quality compared to other brands ive owned with factory paint. More than likely going to wrap this truck to preserve the paint the best I can.

My black truck has mediocre paint quality too. Orange peel, soft clear coat scratches easily, and I had bubbles show up on my fender. The dealer had to replace the fender over it.

I don't usually keep vehicles more than 4 years, but if I was going to keep this one I would let my body guy wet sand the entire truck and re-clear it with something better.

Being that I just bought my truck a few weeks ago, and it's covered in salt now,I haven't had a chance to look at the paint closely.

I did pay for the extra paint protection which was done before I picked it up, but these comments on the paint will make me take a close look at it this spring.

It is the Eco paint playing a part I am sure as well. The older paint before Eco was a little better IMO. I have 09 still no rust on body. The underside I have been repainting as needed to keep the salt from ripping it apart. MN is much worst for rust than ND because they use so much chemical

Paint on my 2014 ram is night and day better than my 2011 f150. The f150 had horrible orange peel...no paint under the doors...

Not sure if this has anything to do with performance issues or not.

The rotors and calipers are all the same from 09+.
Now that you found the pads being different, that could be the problem, but really doesn't make any sense why they would be that bad in the 13+

I was very surprised how well my 09 stops and that was before I changed the rotors and pads. Also flushed the fluid.
