FWIW - no whistle on mine.

Not my post but... Dremel! Can pick up at Wally World for like $20 for the Dremel Starter Kit. Have used so many times for various tasks.

And do you have the metal one from auto zone with like 5 different bases the whistle sucks in fact i took it off drove again and it was gone.

No man - See the first post. It's from Pep Boys, and it's Rubber. It is a Universal so it came with 3 screws and 2 base adapters. I used 1 screw, threaded at both ends; one threaded into stock base, one into antenna. No gaps = no whistling.

I removed the ball end on mine (twists right off), cut it down, then super glued the ball back on and painted black....freebie

Looks good. I'm think about doing this myself

I cut mine with a hacksaw, took maybe 1.5min. The end ball just twists off, it is a brass type material. You will have to file down the mast end after cutting as it gets thicker the futther down you go to the base. Then just super glue the ball on, wait till it dries and spray paint black. I do this to all my trucks, never had an issue. I find it gets better reception than aftermarket ones, might have something to do with the little wire that coils around the mast.

Oh....and no whistle on mine.

My buddy just got a new 2012 Ram and he wants me to cut his ASAP, I will take in process pics if needed.

Installed a 14" universal rubberized mast to replace the stock monster. I'll probably get one of those short ones from CravenSpeed later on...I like the way those look.

I like 14" more than 8" or stubby 5". Big truck looks odd with tiny antenna I think. Plus the rubber ones are thicker so its not so dainty looking.

I just finished cutting and painting mine. Looks great and it was free. I almost never listen to the radio so mine was mostly for looks... and man does it look good. Great idea whoever came up with that one.
