Hello All,

Currently I am driving a 17 Mustang but have tired of not being able to carry things around. On a whim I looked into buying a Ram truck. The guy offered me a quad cab 3.6 Tradesman for a little over 20K. After looking around I saw that I can upgrade the infotainment, gauge cluster, and wheels easily. I have two issue with the deal. The truck is white and I don't know much about the 3.6 Ram. What do you guys think? Does it sound like a good deal? Is it a good trim and model to buy? Thanks for the help.

Whats your budget?
The V6 is good, but you may wished you had the Hemi and Crew Cab....enjoy the more room.
I had a regular cab, sold it and bought the one below in 2015, modded it, now selling it to go to a car LOL

Opposite of you :)

Well the weird part is I think it is to big. I may buy a house soon so I am keeping my car purchase low. Other wise I would be getting a R/T single cab. They have no single cabs with short bed so I am stuck with the quad if I get it.

I have a Quad Cab 3.6 in SLT trim. Does everything I need a truck to do and gets great gas mileage as well. If you don't plan on towing then the 3.6 is a great option. The back seat is cramped but I have little ones so they dont mind, and we have a minivan for people moving duties.

Ok I am leaning towards going in to get it then. Everyone keeps telling me they love my current car and not to do it. I understand that but I want a truck. Anyway thanks for the help I will decide by tomorrow.

In limbo between trucks

I was in the same boat. I had a Saturn SL2. I got tired of having to borrow my dad's, or friends trucks every time I needed to haul something large. I just got a 17 tradesman with the 3.6 and so far I love it. I haven't hauled anything with it yet, but with double the horsepower and 40 more ft lbs of torque as my dad's 93 4.3 Chevy I doubt I'll have any trouble. So I say go for it

How often do you need a bigger vehicle to carry things around? What kind of Mustang do you have? Love me some Mustangs. I had a white 2011 RTR.

If you tell us what kind of mustang, you have that may help. Do you currently have a v6 or v8? If you don't need the backseat, I'd go with rc over quad cab if you can. You can get a regular cab w/ 3.92 gears, 8 spd, and hemi into the 12's naturally aspirated if speed is your thing.

I think people over complain about room in the back of the quad. I drive 6 adults to the lake in mine.

I think people over complain about room in the back of the quad. I drive 6 adults to the lake in mine towing my boat. Fit fine. I'm 6'1 and can ride in back of it fine.

Its a judgment call/preference. I had an 09 4x44 4.7, bought about 6-8 months before the big spike in gas prices. When gas went up to near $4/gal, I was also driving about 80 miles a day, and as you can imagine the gas was killing me. So I traded it in on a Mazda 3. The Mazda is a great car and I drove it for over 6 years, but I always missed my truck. Now that I work much closer to home, I sold the 3 to my brother, and have the 09 Ram in my sig. Yes, it still doesn't get the greatest MPG, but I enjoy look at and driving it. Definitely times I wish I'd gone with the 3.6, but I got a good deal on this one, and Yellow is hard to find.

Just a note - My first 09 was a Quad - the back seat wasn't bad, and I didn't carry people all that often so it worked. But now we have a big dog and a couple grandkids, so the crew was needed.

It's all in what you want. My brother prefers to have a car like the Mazda, and tow a small trailer for the times he needs to. Me - I just like driving a truck. What works for you?

Yeah its not too bad when your young and those knees and that back still work pretty good. Give it a few years and it will probably suck for anything more than a short trip unless you're a midget or a kid. I used to always buy extended cab trucks until I discovered the extra room in the crew cab. However if the OP is driving a car anything truck wise is better than a car.

It is a 17 V6 manual....I know, but I have exhaust, cold air and I am waiting for the 36K point to load a MPT tune. I upgraded the base radio to navigation and I was shopping for a rear spoiler before looking for the truck. I don't haul often but I like that I can when I want to. I had a regular cab F150 before the car. It was my first truck and I loved it. Some guy slammed into it while it was parked and totaled it and that is how I ended up in the Mustang. Oh I almost forgot the "curse". I just made a year and have spent about 2,500 on the car outside of the notes. I won't go into it but from the week I got it bad things happened. As of now it has slowed I guess that is why it was not at the top of my mind. Nice white Stang by the way. While I like speed I don't mind slowing down a bit.

I love my 4x4 pentastar. With the pedal commander on sport plus i can even peel out. Lol.
But i don’t haul nothing. If i ever did it would be a small boat or jet skis. Nothing the 6 can’t handle

If youre going from a v6 mustang I dont think you will need a v8. It still has plenty of power. If the Mustang seemed enough for you then it should be too. I just dont know about that trim level. I am not sure what interior your Mustang has but your exterior with the wheels gives it more of a premium feel. The Tradesman is low on the totem pole, so you will have no flashy-ness to it and it, depending on color it may look like a work truck, and will need a lot of TLC. But its all about what you can afford with what makes you happy! Thats just my opinion. Good luck! Oh and I also want to know the Mustangs problems lol
