This is I’m sure a ridiculous question. Camshaft is bad, lobe is toast cylinder 1. Put a new lifter in hoping to Limp it to spring when I can do a full cam and lifter job on it. It drives and runs fine until you get under acceleration and then it misfires. So my question is, is it possible to shut down the cylinder by removing the spark plug and I pluging the injector for cylinder one or would that still cause misfire and be dangerous. There’s no more ticking because I replaces the lifter but someone said it’s possible to run on 7 cylinders I wasn’t sure if I could do that or if it would even run at all or damage anything else. Apologies for ignorance

Damage is already done and that new lifter wont last all that long probably run more metal threw the engine. You can run it as is until engine blows or you decide to fix it the right way turning off the cylinder will just make it run worse.

unplug that fuel injector. Why not try it? I might want the lifter out as well, but I have thought on it.

Why would you want to shut down the cylinder? That lifter is still moving with or without fuel/spark and fuel/spark aren't adding extra load to the lifter.
