I have had 3 5.3 chevy’s all very nice trucks not a single problem.

I now have a ‘13 Ram sport. I like this truck allot. If it wasn’t for the dreaded exhaust manifold leaks this truck would be perfect.

That being said if I did it all over again I would take a hard look at Tundra’s.

I think the Rebels come with 3.92s standard. I'm hoping to get 18-19 on my trip from Georgia to Michigan this June.

I drove GM's from 1994 to 2016 until I jumped into my 2016 Laramie Crew Cab. I came form a 2006 Cadillac STS which I greatly enjoyed. I'm more than pleased with this Ram. First car in 20 years that one of the tires didn't leak air. It's probably a coincidence but I'm blaming it on GM rims!

I was pretty dead set on a Silverado LTZ or high country until I saw the new Ram at the Auto show in Detroit.
I still do like Silverados but I've come to like Rams better. The exteriors are more unique, the interior is nicer, more features such as express keyless entry and push-to-start, etc.
All three of the big 3's offerings are pretty solid choices these days. I have just come to prefer Ram, as I believe most of us here have.

Funny how opinions vary so much. I personally hate the look of the dual tips. I always have aftermarket exhausts, but I get them custom built with the pipes tucked up behind the outside corner of the fender/bumper so they’re not visible. Dual tips on the back of a truck to me just screams juvenile redneck (because that’s what all of us rednecks had when we were teenagers). I would get rid of them, but then I’d have to replace the bumper.

Ive owned nearly everything, heck I run a Ford dealer and drive a Ram. The only real question you need to ask if you are looking at Rebels is can you live without a square wheel well arch? Other than that the Ram is better in nearly every way. Not bias, again I run a Ford dealer you know #1 selling truck on the planet and i have a BigHorn Ram.

The fit and finish is what keeps me in Rams. All my previous GM's including Cadillac slowly develop creaks and squeaks that my brain will not let me tune out. Me I would only steer against the Rebel because of the cheap looking grill, but thats my opinion.

Ive owned 8 Hemi powered vehicles and never been stranded or broken down over the last 14 years. The Hemi over the ancient 5.3 will be night and day.

I agree with you as well. The RAM fit and finish is fantastic when you take into account ford and chevy. However, Dodge wasn't always this way. I can remember a caravan my dad owned that had a god awful high pitched whine and a Dakota crew 4x4 4.7 magnum that had it as well and some creaks and the steering wheel was so loose I refused to ride in it because I thought it would fly off. The dealer told my father it was fine. I had a bias for a long time when it came to dodge. I owned an 01 F150 Lariat Scab I sung praises about.

But the current new vehicles, RAM was superior in styling, power, comfort, etc to me when truck shopping. Only time will tell.

That is funny. I wouldn't mind if it was hidden... or out the sides.. but if I see only 1 tail pipe out the back of a vehicle I get annoyed. I need symmetry!

I've been a GM guy for 20+ years. I have owned three brand new Silverado's (all 5.3L 6-speeds) since 2009. My current truck is a 2017 5.3L 6-speed with nothing but transmission flaws. I say flaw because GM states that's how these are designed to drive. Lag from a stop, harder shifting sometimes, other times it can't decide if it wants to shift or run sluggishly at low RPM's to save that .00001 gallon of gas, etc. I'm just not happy.

In any event, I have an opportunity to pick up a 2018 RAM Rebel. Does anyone have any bad experiences with the later model Rebels (2016-2018) that would otherwise keep me from buying? Unusual wear and tear? What's the towing on these like - are they built at all for towing? I don't tow much, but definitely do often enough that I need to have that at hand. I live in an area with alot of snow and salt. Will this have an adverse effect on the air ride suspension?

I've had several Rams, 5 to be exact. In 2017 I decided to try a Silverado and ordered it: Z71 LTZ Double Cab, 6.2L and 8 speed and 3.24 rear end. This thing gave great gas mileage, unbelievably in the 23-25 mpg range on open road at reasonable speeds. Otherwise, it was a DOG. Absolutely unbearable transmission shifting especially 1-2 downshifts and 1-2 upshifts. Engine was a SLUG in terms of responsiveness to throttle input -- if you put your foot in it at say 60 mph it would go like stink, and even then it acted as if it had to "spool" up before the power would come on. Took it to three Chevrolet dealers....yes, we know about the transmission shifting and that is just the way it is - one actually tried to tinker with the software with no improvement. Great quiet ride and soft as a car -- my wife described it as a luxury car with a bed, but that it was not a TRUCK in her opinion. Six weeks ago we traded in the **** on a 2018 Big Horn. Back in the saddle again God how I missed that Hemi with the ZF 8 speed, 3.21 rear end 4x4. Getting 20-22 on the highway.

I recently got on this forum to get opinions concerning the Ram pick-up, I have owned nothing but GM since 1969 and I'm looking at the Ram for the first time. I am presently looking at a Tradesman 4x4 with the Hemi and convenience packages, MSRP around 38K, the same set-up in a Silverado or Sierra would total quite a bit more, the interior was also much nicer. If anyone has some advice on what model to look at, Tradesman, Big Horn, etc, that is the better value, please chime in, I know GM but not the Ram lineup.

I heard many of the same type of complaints from friends who purchased the High Country and Denali models, this was a big reason for me to start looking at the Ram, the GM dealers I spoke to claim they have not heard of these complaints of vibration, poor throttle response and tranny shifts.

Then they flat out lied to your face. These are very well known, wide spread issues with 14 and up gm trucks. When i had my silverado they told me the same thing. All supposedly normal, we can't do anything about it. Tuned for fuel mileage, blah blah blah. Total bs. I grew to hate that Silverado. So many annoying things about it. This ram has made me totally forget about that Silverado. Good bye gm! Good riddance.

Yeah I actually found a 2009 5.3 Chevy I had felt more powerful than a 2014 and shifted better. And on paper it had less power. So wtf.

If going GM I would have to have the 6.2, no ifs ands or buts. I'd even rather the 6.0 in the HD's. From a driving perspective the 6.0 feels about the same as the 5.3, but at least it is more reliable and does not have GM's active fuel management. The new Ecotech 5.3 is just a dog and desperately needs an update. Even just tuning would help. And people think the 5.7 Hemi is under powered and outdated? When are they gonna get on the 5.3...

Yeah GMs tuning on there trucks is terrible, my 06 Z71 was flat guttless .
